Anyone bought this months? Got a 620 v's ER6n second hand review.

Lets just say, the Duc doesn't fair too well... :(

Has a review from Darrin Lloyd though, recommending UKMOC!! :yoparty:

Compaired to an ER,,, sheesh had one of those when I trashed my LC. It was the most boring thing I'd ridden, more character in a tin of semolina.
I won't buy that issue of Ride as it'll only annoy me.
I don't think a lot of the testers 'get' monsters

I don't really read or take any notice of any published roadtests these days, cos the testers don't seem to understand what real world bikers want from a bike, most people I know want to ride a reliable bike that has some character & is fun to ride, magazine road testers seem preoccupied with speed, wheelies, etc.

Well he did say positive things about the cornering ability and handling of the Monster. However I think he felt the 60bhp or there abouts wasn't enough.

I still love my little M600... I really should upgrade to a S2 but I'm kinda having too much fun tinkering with it.

I am sure this months Bike Magazine did a review of the M900 and that seems quite positive.

Hmmm looks like I,ve been outed?
Quite a crap and contradicting report. The 620 monster is wrote down for being unreliable yet mines done 24k now without trouble and about £150 of dealer parts in 4 years or so. Then moves onto the alternatives the 620 Multistrada is "torquey, light and reliable"
So if you buy a mst frame and wheels etc put your 620 engine in that it will become reliable eh? Oh and ugly!
TBH a prime example of bike magazines whats S***e this week will be next months best bargain second bike.

TBH I stopped reading bike mags a few years back. The reason - Just look at the companies who pay for the advets in the mags - Honda, Suzuki etc then you will understand why there is such an IL4 bias.

Why would a big Jap company advertise in a bike mag that tells the truth?

I think a few years ago Ducati withdrew advertising from Bike when they did a couple of roadtests that were less than complimentry about quality and reliability, so for that reason alone i would trust them if they were prepared to upset one of their big advertisers then they probably would another today.
I would trust some mags, i think some journos are trust worthy and are just like most of us and want the same sort of bikes, my last 3 new Bikes (Aprillia Falco, Bandit 1200s & the Streettriple)had all had good reviews in roadtests but were not the latest rocketships but were sold as practicle, proper value for money machines.

I didn't buy a Ducati cos of the lack of power, and I certainly didn't buy it as the 'sensible' option. I bought it cos I wanted one, and everytime I ride it, it puts a smile on my face in a way that no other Jap in line 4 bike has ever done.

As for reliablity, it's the same as any other 11 year old bike, bits stop working, and others fall off...

Give it month or 2, and every bike mag will be saying this years GSXRCBRZXR1 it sooo much better than last years, and we're all inadequate cos we wouldn't notice that they're 3 grammes lighter, and 0.002 mph faster around some far off sunny race track.

Perhaps they need to find a bike that they actually enjoy riding at real world speeds in real world places, rather than willy waving...

Don't forget the 'escort' agencies :D

I read the mag reviews with a degree of skepticism. Once a reviewer has ridden pretty much every top-end bike, they find it hard to put themselves into 'our' place. I call it the 'Clarkson effect'. That said, I rode an er-6n in Oz earlier this year and loved it. The only real problem was the vibration which apparently, the new model has reduced. I'd need to ride it to tell though.
