Honda say they are ready to offer retired seven-time Formula One world champion Michael Schumacher a ride in the 2009 World Superbikes championship.
Schumacher, 39, has raced in German superbike races with Honda this year.
Honda Racing boss Carlo Fiorani told La Gazetta dello Sport: "Michael has not asked us to race in the worlds. But if he wants to, there is a way for him."
Schumacher, who recorded fast times on a Ducati in tests in Portugal last week, has previously played down talk of him racing seriously on bikes.
Earlier this year, he said: "There will be no second career on motorbikes. This is just a hobby."

His exploits were in PB this month.
His remaining Ferarri contracts mean he couldn't have 'Honda' displayed on anywhere on his Fireblade and 'Brembo' had been milled off his calipers.
Fair play to him, he tested a Desmosedici at Mugello in 2007 and was 15 seconds off race pace, He rode it again in Valencia that year and was down top 6 seconds. He tested the Ten Kate Fireblade and he was only 4 seconds slower that Checa and Kiyonari.
I wish I had the cash and talent for a hobby like that.

Après ma lobotomie. Je préfère être un bon machanic qu'une infirme ex coureur.

You can't really discount him going out playing, past experience says all these top end competitive people just have to the urge to compete built in. We used to have a few locals like David Warick , Derek and Justin Bell who used to come out and play on enduro bikes. They used to turn their races in an annual stubble field fun day into something slightly more serious as they'd just 'switch on' and had to win or do well.
Stick them on anything from a pogo stick, lawnmower or bike and they'll throw in 100% effort and focus, that's a big part of their abilities . Schumacher has done well in the bike racing he's gotten involved in so far.
