Awesome machine.

Rode it back from the dealers 63 miles all on A roads, what a hoot. Having owned a 748 for five years it took about 15 miles to get my head round how it revs. First impressions, riding position is perfect and comfortable, seat is very comfy compared to the 748, back brake pedal will take some getting used to as it is in a different position, front brake is super smooth but takes a lot of lever - I will look at new pads, I ride on my toes so my right foot kept hitting the heat shield - will have to change the way I ride, very quick steering compared to the 748, and as for power - it pours out all over the place in any gear - nearly got thrown off backwards a number of times opening it up at around 5.5k rpm (Mental note - this is NOT a 748 you don't have to rev it). Oh and it has a full termi system including air box.

I will post some pics tomorrow as it needs a good clean now!

I'm glad the weather held out for your trip home. Sounds like you had fun.
Is it the 996 engine or the 998 Testastretta engine ?

hahaha! I got a 748R after my S4Rs and I can only imagine the surprise you got when you tried to wring its neck like the 748! hahahaha!

Nice bike and welcome!

JP - it is the 996 engine, I felt that the 998 (999s engine) would be too silly for me. 996 is enough poke at my age. As for the weather it was very cold, numb fingers and sickening pains as they thawed out. But it was worth it.

Glad to hear the bitter cold couldn't wipe the smile away.
And I think you're never too old to enjoy that Testastretta motor. It's fantastic.

HI PDL,

Yeah, I've had a wee test run on the brute - a wee bit hairy for me at the moment !! Like you say, the tiniest twist of the wrist and you're launched like a rocket !! Enjoy it buddy !

Your not wrong Rudeboy, I was used to keeping the 748 boiling at around 5500rpm and then reving the nuts off it. I tried it on the S4R and it very nearly chucked me off the back. :chuckle:
