I don't know if these are any good for you hardened all-year-around bikers but they are on offer again.

Q) and how long does it keep warm for on one set of batteries? - jon

A) OK - this should be used in the following way; turn on the power for a few minutes to warm up the jacket - turn off. It is not deisgned to be powered up constantly and if used in this way the batteries will last no more than 40 to 50 minutes

so it's like putting a waistcoat on a radiator then?

Under the first rock on your right just up the footpath opposite, it's in a bag so shouldn't get soggy.

Rosie acquired me something like this, I found waiting until you feel that major appendages are about to fall off then putting it on works. Does warm up quickly to give a nice mmmmmmm feeling just in time for the last traffic rich stretch of road to work. If it's quite cold -5 or less then stays on from the time I'm out of the door. Oh and use high capacity rechargables so it lasts longer, plus a recharge at work for the buzz home.

6 x AA batteries = 9 volts Bike battery = 12 volts mmmmmmm

Do you think th vest could handle a little extra oomhp so it could be pluged in......unlimited heat?????

You'd have to drop the voltage or you risk burning the elements out. If the wiring is easy to get to you could solder in a power resistor but that would get hot plus I would suggest fitting an in-line fuse/holder and using a gold resistor.
Meassure the jacket resistance then calcule the wattage, then work out the correct size resistor in order to drop the voltage by 25% to 9v. Ohms laws.
The wattage is important when selecting the correct size gold power resistor.

Have seen the maplin waistcoats and the comments about connecting to the bike.

Have seen these on amazon for 20 quid and it has a 12V lead included.

Not invested yet but tempted.

I'm going to get one of those. Couldn't bring myself to part with £170 for the EX02 vest.

Let me know if you do get one and what its like.

When you read the ad it sounds like it comes with gloves too.

I did e-mail them to ask but I haven't heard any reply from them so I'm not sure.

Just need a fused link for connection to the bike. I've even got an old heated grip temperature controller I could use if I do get some.

Jody.

I bought one of the maplin ones for my wife as a small christmas pressie.
She'll never wear it on the bike but she's always complaining that she's cold and hopefully I'll be able to turn our central heating down from suffocatingly hot to uncomfortably hot after she gets it.
