Had my subscription arrive through the door yesterday and this months (November) edition of the RIDE magazine has a write up and brief test of the new 100 Monster.

Apart from from the fact that it's still October (really hate the way mags appear weeks too early) was does it say good/bad?

It says that the Triumph Speed Triple 1050 is more fun, but 'If you want a new Monster, this is the one to have'.

Spoke to the salesman at riders last Friday and thought that for the money he'd rather have the S4RS for £500 more than the new 1100S. Mind you he may have wanted to move some potentially old stock as the new model lands here. Moving on are they going to do a water cooled version in this style?

The salesman I bought my 696 from did'nt like the new monster until he was in a position to take orders, then strangely, he decided he loved them.

no more watercooled Monsters - just tractors from here in. The end of an era

The S4Rs does look very good value compared to the 1100S and the 848 IM(very)HO.

Incidently, some of the launch pics show the 1100s around a town called Gourdon in the hills behind Cannes - stunning place. If you're in the area, the roads are quiet, smooth and loads of fun.

Jerry, I'm going that way in May to spend a week in Grasse, so will be looking for the nice roads.
Unfortunately it'll be on a hire bike.... boo hoo.

I keep hearing how good the Triumph Speed 4 and Speed triple are.. They are just meant to be blindingly good bikes. :)

By the way I prefer an air-cooled bike ;)

IMHO a very underated bike

as long as you like a rev-crazy engine :woot:with razor sharp handling :yoparty:

and a poor mixture of fool-injection  and gearbox

OK so this might be a bit of a thread hijack but someone mentioned the speed triple and I have just ridden nearly 400 miles on a street triple and I have to say that I'm totally impressed with the bike. It handles blindingly well and holds the road like glue - and it's not the version with the adjustable front forks etc etc it's just the bog standards shiny black one. I know Puddinghead on here has just bought the speed triple in matt black so I'd be keen to hear how she rates it.

I don't think I could ever part with my M900ie because I love it to bits but the triumphs from my experience are fantastic and i could even get used to the noise they make!

No but expect a naked 1098 "Hyperfighter" at the Milan show.... 150bhp ish....

Now a Hyperfighter is definitely a bike I could live with.

jp, grasse is at one end of the route napoleon which is probably the best biking road in the world so you shouldn't have to look far! Was there last summer and met a group of Brits who go there every year and spend a week riding it. You'll love it, hire bike or not.
