Had anybody fitted a 14T front sprocket to and S4Rs or S4R Testastretta. I hoping to make it a bit smoother lower down, as it's a a bit lumpy as standard.
Thing is it already wheelies far too easily, how much difference with the 14T sprocket make?

Wheelies on 14T .... That'll be even easier with the lower ratio !!

As the engine has it's fuel management set up to meet the euro 2 or 3 regs it will be fairly poorly mapped at the bottom and top end. I don't know (but I'm sure someone will let us know) but remapping ought to make the motor much sweeter to run at lower revs.

I have one of the S4R Testastretta's.
Yep that's right about the re-mapping for the lower end to smooth it out but you can only do that if you have a Power Commander or the like fitted and the bike has a Ducati Performance Chip fitted, like the S4RS does as standard, or you get one fitted like me as an after market mod.
I also had the 14 tooth sprocket fitted prior to that and it does makes a difference at the lower end. As a fairly simple and cheap change it is definitely worth it.

Yo, just done mine and it has smoothed the rattle away and given a bit more drive. A very modest but great mod.

Cheers guys, sounds like 14T front sprocket is the thing to do then. Didn't realise the S4RS has a Ducati Performance ECU fitted as standard?

What you need to do now Leslie is to whack a power commander on there and the difference is amazing.

How much was the power commander?

You know what Leslie, I had a dream about this conversation last night, and in my dream I corrected myself abou the S4RS have the performance Chip as Standard. It only comes with the new upgraded exhaust system. Sorry for being a plank.

Anyway the Power Commander was about £300 and the Dyno time to set it all up was another £150-£175 if I remember. All in all it's a costly mod because you need a new exhaust system without the catalytic converter, a new ECU, power commander and some dyno time.
All about £1500

I think I'll just get a 14T front sprocket fitted for now, thanks for the info though.
