Oil consumption

Im new to ducati's....currently have a 696, what sort of oil consumption would be consider acceptable, and what oil is recommended for top ups (fully synth ?)

I use semi 10/40 in the monster and the 748. I think they all use a tad of oil, more so with fully synthetic imo. Seems to get better with milage though.
