I took the termis off and put everything back as standard for the insurance.
I will take the tail chop off once i get it back from the assessors and reattach the standard tail.

Such a shame.
Does the frame/forks appear bent?
Do you think it will be a write off?

......write off! Too many scuffs and broken items to be anything else I suspect. Get an 1100 with the compensation you'll be entitled to - assuming it was the 3rd parties fault.

What you need now is a ruddy big electric motor for you wheelchair!

Mark

Ouch!..hope both you and the bike get sorted mate.
I had a close one last week, when some knobhead pulled out of the local pub carpark, even though i had my headlights on (10,30pm.), i could have stopped quite a bit sooner but i thought, give the twit a scare, so i pulled up about a foot from his door, then he opened his eyes and sped off.
Bet he was pissed, lucky for him i wasn't a plod on me fireblade!

The forks look fine but i would think you`d have to put them on a jig to know for sure but the frame is flattend underneath a little bit.

Any damage to the frame should be an instant write-off as Ducati would claim they'd have to completely strip the bike to repair it. The 1100S should be a good replacement though!! :D

I guess you'll have the dubious honour of writing off the first one! It's heartbreaking to see such a lovely bike in such a sad state. You could buy it back I suppose and have it as a project, then you could have the 1100 and the 696, or could make a whizzy track bike or shouldn't I say things like that.

Buy it back for peanuts and keep using it plus use your payout to buy the other bike you were after.

A sad sight - hopefully you can console yourself with an 1100.

It a lot harder to buy them back now. But if its the 3rd partie insurers paying out you may be in look. What ever you do don't let them take it away, and ensure the dealer if it has to go to one does not let anyone with out your permission take it away if written off.

If you are claiming from the 3rd party make sure that is is for the full retail price of a replacement, if the mileage was very low, otherwise scour the adds for ones at dealers of same age and mileage if any can be found. There was one in MCN this week private at about £5200. The problem with a new model when this happens it sorting out the agreed value as nothing to base it on.

yes i had that problem with my cat C s2r back in febuary. It was 3month old with 2500miles on the clock. I paid £6000 for it and the insurer said it was worth £5000. They said you can have £5000 or £4500 and the bike back so i took the £4500 and sold the bike for £3000 on ebay. RESULT!

Damn shame about the bike.........but you can always get another one...........GWS!!!!

It a lot harder to buy them back now

Some of this is due to the type of thing i went through, where bits go missing off the bike before you get it back so its more agro for the insurance companies to sort out and find the theiving buggers and then refund you the buy back costs.

My insurer hinted they see quite a bit of this type of thing and it will reach a point where they just wont offer or consider it anymore............

Cheers,

Shandy

It's always SO hard to look at your pride and joy in one picture then see the wreck some fool has made of it in the next - I found the phone pictures of my written off hypermotard (it was 4 days old when some 18 year old twat drove into the back of me at a pedestrian crossing on a red light - don't get me started) - hopefully you will heal up without any glitches and then you'll have one of the first 1100S bikes to adore and cherish. I hope the claim moves on through really fast and you get what's due to you from the fool who hit you. Wishing you a good recovery - take care and keep us all informed of how things go...

The police have sent me a nice letter sayin it is considered that the driver of the other vehicle has displayed poor judgement in their driving. It is therefore intended to make that person an offer of attendance on a driver improvement course which he will have to pay £167 to attend. If he refuses further action will be taken.

Could try taking his licence away for a year or Let him ride a scooter for two years.
Extended re-test, big fine, banned for 5 years for next offence.
Getting of very lightly if you ask me.

If he does this kind of thing very week then yes ban the freak. We are only human and we all make mistakes. dont get me wrong the guy is a turkey, just thank god i wasnt goin any faster.:freak:

The penalty for driving without due care and attention
The maximum penalties following a conviction for careless driving are a fine, obligatory penalty points of between 3 – 9 and the court has a power to disqualify at it’s discretion. It is our job firstly to secure an acquittal if possible and, if not, to ensure that any penalty imposed is kept to the absolute minimum.

Know what you mean but I would think the harsher the penalty the better your claim!

I think you're taking it quite well, think I would have had a bit of bite at the police over that like.

where would it get me? like i told you b4 the 1st cop on the seen was a bike copper. i dont think his punishment would effect my claim as no matter what punishment the law dish out it was his fault.
I suppose thats all that matters for the claim.
