Is the seller of this auction:

a member of the UKmoc?
Or does anyone know the bike?

After I bought my 620ie, Squiffy's ex-bike, and a 750ie for reselling in Austria,
my father thought it would be a smart idea to invest in another Monster :freak:.
I really love the look of the single-sided-swingarm and
think the price is a bargain (probably because of the colour :p),
at least compared to the prices here.

So what I would like to know:
Are there extreme differences between the 620 and the s2r 800,
like power output (altough the engine should be pretty similiar),
or handling because of the single-sider and the different wheels?
Is the front brake system on this model cheaper built (and weaker) than the
gold one of the earlier Monster models?

I will try the 750 out to compare it to my 620 on saturday,
because I messed my Monster up driving through rain for about
1000 miles in the last week on my trip to Poland,
now cleaning her since Monday and feeling ashamed for the bad treatment.
I'm probably one of just a few people who drove more miles during rain
than good weather, even when I did my test in June it was raining.

Oh and another question, maybe an important one:
After 500 miles of riding in rain, the 620 couldn't
reduce the rev's under 3000 rpm being in neutral.
But when I now start her up, everything seems fine
and like usual.
Engine Temp was around 125°.
Is this something to be concerned about?

Cheers

Hi the s2r 800 is more pokey than the 620. The brakes are weaker abit than what you will have on the 620 but more than adequate. Slighter taller and handle superbly. The swingarms are really solid so no flexing.

The thing about the revving in the rain maybe the throttle getting tight. It maybe the grip. Try loosening it or some silicon spray.

The seller is on here (Lemarsu).

I've had both a 620 and S2R - the S2R is way more powerful, but not scarily so. Much more responsive, a nicer gearbox, slightly taller (as Albie said), and a slightly different riding position to the 620.

The brakes are fine - the 620 is completely overbraked.

The S2R is a much better bike than the 620, but the 620 is also a fab bike!

And if Sazza can ride one anyone can. Your not tall are you:)

The thing about the revving in the rain maybe the throttle getting tight. It maybe the grip. Try loosening it or some silicon spray.

This happens to quite a few people (it's happened to me a number of times, that's when I still used to ride my Monster in the rain... x) - it seems to be the throttle body rotatey piece (technical term x) that sticks - it's the gold half-moon shaped widget that the throttle cable attaches to that is visible though the trellis on the right hand side of the bike. If you wiggle it, the revs drop back down. A dose of GT85/WD40 usually does the trick... as you say, once the bike dries out it usually goes away again... love 'em.

As for differences between the 620 and 800, Albie pretty much sums it up - more midrange torque on the 800, it also has the ATPC slipper clutch which you may or may not like, but you get used to it. Swing arm is gorgeous, brakes more than adequate, the 180 rear tyre does make the bike turn slightly more slowly, but can be compensated to a fair degree but adjusting up the rear ride height.

I'd say go for it - you can always repaint it if you really don't like the yellow?!

:) you and Dad have really got it bad Kaz. What do you mean over six foot as being average You're a bloomin giant at that size. Apart from the sticky throttle thingie (I never had this as a problem but she didn't go out in the rain that much) how is the old girl doing? Glad to see you're out riding her, when does the restrictor come off and you get a chance to really open her up and play?

I don't know you'll soon be ready for getting a Naughty bike

This looks like a really good buy - even though it is yellow.

Actually the yellow S2rs are stunning. If you haven't seen one in the flesh you will not be disappointed. They look great. ( Is that fiver in the post gilps?)

Thanks Anne. The good taste balance has been restored. I haven't got a fiver right now but I promise to buy all the bling off yours when you come to sell it.

Just had a look at the link and the sellers name is Le Marsu - there can't be many of those (it is a French cartoon character) and since the bike is based in South London I'd say that is certainly Sami (Le Marsu) on here who is selling it.

He's a 100% good guy, and the bike will be very well looked after - he doesn't use the UKMOC so much any more (he used to be one of the administrators), but send him a PM if you have any questions?

Right, back to baiting midgets and ridiculing highlighter-pen paintwork... ha!

The throttle problem is like JMo said because of the excessive use during rain
on my trip, now it is all like it was used to.
The Monster is now retiring from last weeks tour, it's cleaned (finally after 3 days)
and waiting tillI get a second tea tray,
because I broke away all bolts of the tail piece of the 750ie
(should have sprayed them with WD40 :banghead:)
and swapped the tea tray from the 620ie including my license plate to
take it for a short trip on Saturday.

I will probably keep the restrictor for a while,
because it's still able to rev up to 7000rpm,
the power output is enough for a beginner like me
and even with the restrictor it is very thirsty :booze:.
Don't know how much 7l per 100 km in mpg are, but
I get only about 180 km far.

The old girl is doing very well, I still enjoy every minute of riding the bike,
it gives me a big grin when I just look at her, and even a bigger
one when I fire her up :mand:.

Funny thing is though, dogs seem to think it is a rival when they hear
the termis, many dogs were barking when I drove by,
and one even tried to chase me when I left a petrol station in Slovakia,
I really struggled not to run it over as it ran beside me :chuckle:.

And to make my position clear,
I do like the yellow with black stripe colour,
but many people do not so maybe it is a reason why the s2r was so cheap.
It reminds me of the Dodge Ram Rumble Bee, which has exact the same colour scheme.
Maybe I'll try to get a sticker of the logo and place it somewhere on the bike.

A naughty bike
I would really love to have a naughty Bimota Tesi 3D with the Ducati engine,
but it's horribly expensive :worried:

Cheers

:) it does look good so radically different. By Naughtybike I ment a Hyper. You'll have to plan a trip over here and come and try mine out next year. Maybe the National Weekender could see you have a trip on one of your steeds. You could meet up with the belgium boys and girls and have a european tour thing going on.
