695 warrentie... Any usual problems

hi guys. Im gonna go for my 12month service. Just woundering since im making the long trip should i get them to check parts that are under warrentie still. Do you 695 owners know of any problems. Thanks

I've had mine for 2.5 years and have had no problems and don't know of anyone who has had any either.

Somebody else will have to get back to you on that, as mine's a 2006 so the old service schedule. My belts are 24m and the first service cost me £312 at Daytona King's Cross (here in London) and somebody else was quoted £150 by the clowns at Metropolis. This is my breakdown in April 2007 for the first year service:

Environmental charge - £1.99
Labour 4hrs (incl some for fitting a screen) @ £52 - £208
Silk Pro 4 Stand Synth 10/40 oil 3 ltrs @ £8.50 - £25.50
Oil filter - £5.01
Oil drain plug washer - £0.85
Fuel filter 620-750 Dark/02 - £11.56
O-ring - £9.49
Consumables - £3.41

Total £265.41
VAT £46.52

Grand Total £312.33

£250 for 12m service is reasonable, I think I paid about £200 for mine at Parkinson's in Colchester.

Belts are next at 15000m - have been quoted approx £300 for this service, although I have a feeling it may be more than this.

One think I would keep an eye on is the silver paint on the engine crank cases. Mine are being replaced under warranty as the paint is peeling off in a big way. Flaky engine paint is a common problem apparently.

do u have to go to ducati for the services to keep the warranty? as the fella who does my car and his own bikes etc is good at doing that kinda stuff, has his own place, etc. But the only this he said he would be worried about is doing the belts for some reason. But then went on to say that if he had a duke he'd do the belts himself. Iv noticed on my 695 cd that the belts aint done at this services on my bike because there are not enough miles on the thing.

It's a bit of a gray area with regard to the warranty and where you get the servicing done. If you ask Ducati they will tell you that the work must be carried out by an authorised dealer.

Strictly speaking, as long as the work is carried out to a good standard then the warranty should still be valid, no matter where the work was done, even though Ducati may dispute this. I believe there was a big case involving Ford not honouring a warranty claim because servicing had been carried out elswhere, but the customer took them to court and won.

To be honest though I would take the bike to a Ducati dealer for the servicing whilst it is in warranty as they will have all the proper diagnostic equipment, etc. Plus the hassle of arguing the toss with a warranty claim would be a pain.

I wounder what they would do if i took it to a non ducati service center for this oil change etc, then took it to the ducati service for the big one.

I had an oil change + brake and clutch fluid changed by a non Ducati mechanic between the service schedules.

If it's a scheduled service I'd take it to a Ducati dealer to be on the safe side though.
