Have been looking at the new monster 1100 photo's. It has the 1100 ds engine so am I right in thinking it won't be much more powerful than the S2r1000 (which is about 93 bhp i think)?
Cheers Stu

Ducatis web site lists the 1100 Hypermotard as 90bhp and the 1100 Multi as 95bhp and the S2r as 95bhp. These figures are at the crank I believe.

Actually, it'll be massively different to a 696. The power output is what always gets focused on but it's the torque that drives the bike forward, and the torque curve is far more important than the peak power output when it comes to real, riding performance. The 1100 is absolutely light years beyond the 696 in that regard.

Yep.
BHP only starts to make sense at high revs / speed.
For real world road riding, ignore bhp figures, always look at the torque figure & at what revs the bike produces max torque.

Although the actual bhp & torque figures for the DS 1000 & the DS 1100 are similar, the DS 1100 makes max torque at a lot less revs than the DS1000, which translates to a lot more ooomph lower in the rev range.
It will go like stink.
