A brief update on the weekends racing.!
Clint came first in both of his races today and took pole for the first race.
Today was the most brilliant of days, boiling hot and not a cloud in the sky.
The days racing wasn't without drama but once we get the weekend over with, i'll post the rest of the pics, including the ones i'll be taking at tomorrows races.

BluprintZ - George - what can I say!
You are one sound guy - thanks so much for the photos, filming - and the hospital visits mate - you are a blinding geezer sir!!

Our weekend went as follows:
Thurs arrived at track late afternoon - force 5 winds, but dry.
Slob arrives soon after - we make camp.

Friday - trackday - dry day (except for a few drops of drizzle in session 2 of the morning). Lots of gearing changes, suspension changes too.

Saturday: Qually - Clint clinches pole, Paul gets 8th on grid in class (15th over all.
Race one: Red flag on 1st lap - Paul down - nasty one - breaks collarbone & off in blues & 2's. Clint wins.
Race 2: Clint wins
Sunday: Update on Paul, Punctured lung to add to injuries - George visits Paul on way to track in the morning.
Clint takes a close 2nd in Race 1, & wins race 2 by a country mile.

Sun eve: we pile into Bangor Hosp on the way home to see Paul - going to be staying for a few days, before he gets transferred to Surrey by ambulance.
Nasty traffic delays on A55 holds us up for a long time.
Home about 12.45 this morning!!

Big 'up' to Slob for all his pit work this weekend - and also to BluprintZ for his generosity - and for being a good mate!

CK :)

Thanks to all the Knight Roadrace Team for a wonderful weekend of top class racing.
The weather was brilliant and the atmosphere even more brilliant.
I didn't do very much at all, other than take a few pics and get some footage of the last race, plus Rob was doing a sterling job, so seeing as he has worked with the team before, i though that i would keep out of the way unless asked, too many cooks and all that.
I've done my fair share of motorcycle sports over the years, although never road racing, mainly drag racing, enduro's, motorcross and trials riding.
So, as Charlotte has already mentioned, Clint had a great weekend and poor old Paul had a somewhat painful one.
I popped in to see Paul at the hospital on Sunday morning, before i went back to the track, the hospital is about two miles from where i live.
He certainly wasn't in the mood for Choccies and flowers, or my strange sense of humour, not the best situation to be cracking (sic) jokes, so i had an hour with him and then made my way back to the circuit.
The sight of Charlotte bombing around the paddock on a mountain bike, fag in gob, shall be a sight i shall long remember.
Rob was his usual efficient self and a real gent, it was nice to meet some of the members at last, pity a few more couldn't have attended, it would have been a good weekender but maybe next time.
Thanks again to Charlotte and Alan, Clint and Paul (bones), for a most excellent weekend. xx and x!

(I'm having problems posting the pics in the gallery, so if i don't get anywhere with it by this afternoon, i'll put the links on this page).

George - you did more than we could do - in visiting Paul.
He's got dosh with him, and a Fastbike magazine - as well as his wash bag/clothes etc now, tho I know he's appreciate a couple of bike mags (old ones would be fine he said last night!). Watch out - he might tap you up to take his dosh to the shops for food/biscuits as he eats non-stop!!

Give him a big hug from us later when you see him - but not too hard as he had a chest drain put in late last night.

Popped up to the hospital at 7.00.pm this evening, to check on Paul.
I took last weeks MCN and a couple of various mags for him to while-away the days`n nights.
It appears the nurses are sneaking him in some nice food and sweeties now and then, so he's sorted that side of things out, the jammy sod.
He certainly looked much better tonight than he did when i visited him on Sunday morning, although he's got a drain in now, so he can breath pretty much normaly, although it still hurts if he laughs, so i made him laugh a few times, just for my own entertainment you understand!
He's in good spirits, and we had a good natter about lots of things, for about three hours, don't time fly when your having fun?
He is likely to be in until at least weekend, if not longer but they recon he is pretty fit, so we shall have to see how that one pans out.
If he makes the same progress over the next few days, that he has over the last 24 hours, then he should be out in no time.
Either way, i told him i'll deffo be there on Wednesday evening, so if any of you would like to send him good wishes etc, i'll copy them into a word doc and print them out for him, so make sure you put your name at the bottom of your message.
Tomorrow, i'll put the links up for the 30 or so pics i took at the circuit, so have a gander if you so wish.

Something i forgot to mention on last nights update on Paul.

Charlotte has mentioned that he may be transferred to the Surrey Hospital at some stage.
When i asked him about that last night, he said that they were concerned that if they moved him before the drain wound healed, there could be the possibility of infection setting in.
So he thinks that if he does end up in the Surrey Hosp, it would be more likely to be later on for recuperation, rather than on-going medical care.
He feels that from what the staff have said to him, they would much prefer him to stay in Bangor (ysbyty gwynedd), until he's pretty much mended, they don't see the point in moving him if there's no need to.

...apart from the fact his GF and family are over 250 miles away.

and thats the nub of it really - Pauls parents are in their very late 70's and within a 20 min drive of Royal Surrey (if they drove up it would take them most of one day alone to get there), all his mates are local - and Vicki & the rest of the family too.
George - you are doing a sterling job on your own to keep Paul entertained mate.
We just feel so agonised that we cant pop in to see him:(

I've just spoken to him on his bedside phone (flipping rip-off prices that is!!) and he seems in good spirits, despite all his right side ribs being broken & a couple of cracks on the left hand side.

Paul - when George has printed this off, there are many wishes on other forums too (ISC, DSC, MotoForum, Ducatisti etc) and when we left the track, and I've had many phone calls as well mate.

I had probs with the sun on the viewfinder, that's why some of the bikes are further away than i would have liked, i'm amazed they turned out as good as they have, it was mostly point and click with the race shots.
Wanted to get a couple at the prize-giving but i was busy with the video cam.
Have you checked the footage out yet?

I bet you know the hospital well mate! ;)

Yeah - he'd be happy to see you - just be warned he 'might' need an op late tomorrow if the drain isnt working (its just a possibility at the mo).
He's in the orthopaedic ward on the ground floor - where you walk round to the left behind A & E from the front - Its Bueno (or spelt summat like that??).
He's in a single room at the far end on the right of the ward.

Good to see you at the track on Friday mate :) - hope you didnt get too worn out by staying so long!

Dropped in to see Paul this evening and as you can see, he's in good spirits.
Took him todays MCN and a packet of chocolate chip cookies, that he intends to share with the nurses (creeper, injured creeper but a creeper nonetheless) lol.
He still has the chest drain in and they will possibly do a scan over the next few days, he recons that they will likely do that one evening, as the outpatients tend to have first shout at it during the day, unless an emergency crops up.
So, not a great deal to add since my Monday visit, although he does seem to be looking much better each time i see him, plus he could talk a glass eye to sleep, god he can't half natter, feels like i've known him forever.
Anyway, i'm hoping to see him again on either Friday or Saturday evening, workload permitting.
Claicerrig contacted me just after i got back from the hospital tonight, so i think he is probably going to try and get a visit in over the next couple of days.
He also sends love and big-ups to all those who sent him messages of support, hear, hear!

Sort of update, Paul (Bones) is still in Bangor Hospital - likely to be there until at least mid next week. Have been told he might not need an op after all - but its all being assessed on a daily basis.
Vicki (Pauls partner/AK's daughter) is driving part the way there tomorrow (Sat) night, as far as Lily & JPM's to 'borrow their house' for the night - and then go on in the morning on Sunday to see Paul, before coming home again Sunday night. (BIG thanks to Lily & Jon for letting Vicki stay over when they are away racing )

AK & I are off at silly-o'clock tomorrow for a week, so there wont be any more updates till Nick B#34 posts again late on Monday. He'll be keeping an eye on Paul - via email with Vicki & Pauls mum so can let us all know if there is any changes.

Pauls mum wants to say a special thankyou to BluprinZ & Claicerrig for being sterling visitors - she'll get you ear plugs for your next visit she says!

Fingers xx'd Paul mends enough to come home by the time we are back from holiday

Update Monday morning

Bones is still a bag of laughs, even thought it was funny phoning me in the middle of the night, he says... "cos no other bugger will be up this late"!

Anyway.
No real change in his condition so he's been packed off to a hospital in Liverpool today for an op on his lung to mend the puncture wound. Bit of grit-fill and a couple of leaches should do the trick, and he should be home later this week.
So anyone planning to get to see him at Bangor will be right out of luck!!
I'll post up where he's moved to when I know.

Me and Claicerrig had an hour with Paul on Saturday eve.
He wasn't sure what was happening then, so i'm a bit shocked to hear he's off to Liverpool today.
Now he has no chance of learning Welsh, me and a couple of the nurses were having a laugh teaching him some naughty words, iawn cont!

Ah well, in that case, i must stop taking them in to him. lol.
Seriously though, the tabs they are giving him have morphine in them, for the pain relief.
Trouble is, he is probably smashed out of his tiny mind most of the time, that's probably why he never stops gabbing.
I'll give the ward a bell tomorrow and see what the crack is, i'm a bit confused as to what is happening with him, although probably not as much as Paul himself is!

Don't believe a feckin' word he says Jerry, he was well on one tonight, although you chatted to him, whadduya think?
Tell you the truth mate, it was hard work seeing his folks and Vicki there and him in that state.
They are lovely people, no parent wants to see their child in pain, no matter what age they are.
The chest drain is out, although it was weeping a bit while i was there, so the nurse had to come in and dress it.
According to Paul, they might have to put the drain back in again but more above his right tit, rather than in his side, as it was previously but as you say Jerry, that will possibly be determined by the x-ray results.
He was doing his best to have a conversation with me but he just trailed off and his eyes would shut, no the morphine is certainly doing it's thang.
He sent me a text today, saying he had suffered a cardiac seizure, due to the pain, so that is why they have upped his morphine intake, he recons.
His mum and Vicki said they will keep me up-dated on things, so i'll post any info as and when i receive it.

Nice chat with Bones this eve, good news and not so good...

Great to hear him a heck of a lot more cheerful than he was on tuesday, on the phone he's sounding like normal. Well, normal for him anyway! cheerful, making jokes, taking the mick and it's hard to get a word in. So moral is much improved, and Vicki is there to give him a hard time.

Not so good news is his physical condition;
The last chest drain turned out to have been put in wrong. In the wrong place and inserted too far thus causing a bit more damage to his lung. This has meant the wound hasn't been draining properly and has become infected. More of a concern though is he's had some germ swabs taken and it turns out he's carrying MRSA!!!
Now that alone is nothing unusual, statistically about 1 in 3 of us carry MRSA with us all the time, and a healthy person can fight off the bug with no problem. The trouble starts when it finds its way into a wound of someone who's not well and their system is lacking strength to defend itself. Obviously Paul has wounds and is not full of strength at the moment, so it's being monitored very close.
As well as all this he seems to have a touch of pneumonia!

He'll not be moving to Liverpool any time soon because of the mrsa thing, but wil be moving to another ward at Bangor in the next day or two.

Well, i was having a fairly decent evening until i read this!
It's way out of order, surely someone at the hospital should have sussed that out long before now?
I had my own thoughts over the last week or so, that he should have been well on the mend.
I'm feckin' speechless, i really am!
They give him morphine to dull the pain, i'm sure they have had Paul's type of injuries in there before?
So, why did they not realise that something was wrong?
Sorry, i'm rambling on, it's really done my head in has all this.

Livid I am. He's a fit and healthy guy, did hospital staff not question why he wasn't getting better? I lost my grandfather due to hospital f*** ups. These things never seem to stop. I feel bad for not contacting or visiting Bones but I thought he'd be home by now. Maybe I'll have to travel to Wales to dig him in the ribs rather than waiting for him to get back down south.

I wish Bones the very best as my brother has just been through the similar things that Bones is now going through. He also had the chest drain for his legionaires disease. Bad news about the mrsa and no doubt they will sort it. Send him my best wishes and a speedy recovery.

Home about an hour or so ago & catching up with family as to Bones's condition, as we've had scattered texts & limited emailing whilst we've been away.

Vicki & Pauls parents are now on their way home as I typ, having spent 2 full days up there - apparently Paul is staying put for the mo, till consultant can see him Monday, tho he was very chirpy today.

I reckon someone needs to lean on the hospital so he can be sent down south at the earliest now - Vicki might be able to do that when she heads north again at some point on Tuesday., tho am going to try & sort things out so I can go too (or drive her there)

Spoke to Bones a couple of times.

Jerry, you have PM mate :)

General update on Bones (aka Paul):
Unfortunately, he is still in Bangor hospital suffering from his broken ribs & collarbone, as well as having had a punctured lung. It now turns out that the drain that was put in the lung was not done correctly, so it didnt do the job it should have done and also Paul then contracted an infection in the wound. Over the past week he has been in a lot of pain from the wrongly fitted drain, suffered pneumonia, contracted MRSA and also had a seizure.
He has been moved to a different ward on Friday (room with a view of the mountains), and is a little more comfortable today tho still full of drugs - more happy that he saw his parents and Vicki for Thursday through to yesterday afternoon. Vicki is heading back up to Bangor on Tuesday and will be staying there till Paul is moved or ready to come home.
We will update you as and when we have more news, though Paul is now able to use his mobile phone now - but if you call him do keep it short please. If anyone wants his mobile number, please let us know.

If in the area, please DONT visit if you have any colds/flu - he is under strict germ prevention, you'll need to wash hands & also don gloves etc before approaching..... (same as usual at the race track then!)

He thanks Dan from Ducatisti for the pressie it has pride of place on the bottom of his bed :)

Hopefully an update later tomorrow after the consultant has seen latest x-rays

Tues 30th Sept: Update
Just been talking to Vicki, who is now there til Paul is released (so she tells us).
Paul has been moved today to the Moelwyn Ward (still in Bangor Hospital) which is a specialist chest ward.
He no longer has the chest drain as they want to see if the lung will mend itself (so less pain for Paul)
They are STILL awaiting the results on the lung infection (fliping NHS, waiting since last Friday morning for these).

I've got a large card which I will take to Cadwell DD racing this weekend, so if anyone who knows Paul/Bones wants to add a few words to it, please come & find me from early Saturday morning, I'll be there till the last DD race on the Sunday - complete with race van, caravan & bike

I got a text from Paul this evening to say he was dischrged this afternoon : )
I assume that some of you may also have got the same message, i got one supposed to have been for Claicerrig, so i recon he's probably still smashed on the morphine!
All being well, he should get back on his feet soon, shame i didn't get to say ta,da to him though.
Take care Paul mate.
