I posted a few days ago, about having to replace my chain and sprockets.
I orderd them yesterday, so today i've been preparing the bike for the new bits.
I split the chain and removed the rear wheel, so i could give everything a good clean.
I've taken piccies of some of the parts that i'm a bit concerned about.

The small washer is one of two, that were found loose in the grease on the front sprocket cover, they are rubber and both have a split, i thought they were metal spring washers when i first found them.
Where are they likely to have come from and are they supposed to have a split, or is that down to wear`n tear?

The pic of the clutch slave cylinder, shows me pulling a piece of rubber away from the cylinder, i found that while i was gunking around that area.
I thought it was just a piece of crap that had got lodged in the grease.
I assume that it is a seal for the slave?

In the pic of the sprocket face on, you can see the rubber "seal" as i first found it.
I've also ordered a 14T front sprocket, i really don't like how close the 15T is to the swingarm, plus it will be interesting to see how it alters how the bike rides.

The picture of the wheel showing the sprocket hub, should the male lugs on the sprocket carrier be greased with LM grease or copperslip?

Thanks in advance.

The small rubber o ring looks like one from your old chain, nothing to worry about

There should be something in the way of a seal between the clutch slave and the cases to keep all the chain goo off the push rod - I've used a decent sized grommet in the past or even some B&Q Orings, anything provided it's compressed by the slave cylinder

Chances are the chain will rub a little on the swingarm, depends if the rear suspension has been raised. Not too much of a problem provided the chain is clean and well lubed as it runs over a plastic cover - worth making sure this is in good nick and keep an eye on it when cleaning the bike. Lots of peeps run 14s with no issues.

Use copper grease on the cush drive pins on the rear wheel and normal LM grease or similar will rot the rubber bushes over time

hope this helps!

Cheers for that Ped.
Can LM be used on the wheel spindle and behind the spacers that cover the bearing seals?
When i took the spindle out, it had traces of copper grease on it.
Years ago when i had GS1000's, Z1R's etc, i always used LM on those, in fact i don't think i can remember using Copper grease then.

Last week i posted some pics showing the replacement of the chain and sprockets on my M900.
One of the pics shows a piece of rubber pocking out of the clutch slave cylinder:

Today, after i finished sorting out the chain/sprockets, i pulled the slave cylinder off to find this:

Someone from the previous post, mentioned that it could be fixed with an O ring from B&Q, although i think i'll need to get a replacement part, as you can see the pushrod from in front of the sprocket, the slave has a cut-away so crap is going to get in pretty quick.
A trip to Woods in Abergele on Tuesday, i think!

My rubber bit like yours fell off about 17,000 miles ago! Never got round to replacing it!

George what did you use as a seal to the clutch slave cylinder in the end? I've got the same problem!

Thanks George, I might see if I can find something to cover it, in the mean time I won't worry about it.
