Well i went to see her today and she was having the last finishing touches put on to her! Many thanks John Warrington!!! (Its been a long 5 years)

Open belts, open clutch completely no air box and sock air filters. She is louder than ever!!

I went for these filters the black pod ones: http://www.unifilter.com/online%20catalog/universal.html

Jacked up back end, 888 rear shock (Standard) 180 rear tyre all a bit different from the 600!!!

Im now looking forward to riding her home tomorrow what ever the weather!!

......strangely, I've never called my Monster, 'She'. I often call it 'It' because it is a bit of a beast - The Devil's Bike....but never 'She'.....Never!

Not such a good day after all!

Picked her up and took her to a friendly MOT centre, passed first time nice. The power delivery is superb and she is so loud!! Rattles and all i love her!

Now the bad.

14 miles down the road and i stumble across a marked Volvo, not a drama i think as i pull up to the junction. However he has been waiting because he has heard me coming down the road. As i head towards Sutton Bank it doesnt take him long to catch up, after i saw him i stuck to 60mph! He follows me for a bit (Im in 6th trying to keep her quiet!!) and then it two's and blues!! (What me officer!)

I pull over at a safe location, turn her off straight away, remove my lid and start with "Hello sir!" How lucky am i, he recognises me from a track day, some thing about a looney getting his knee down!! (Me sir!!)

Ive pulled you over because your bike is smoking!! (What the F!!!)

On closer inspection there it is oil! More on the outside than inside! All over the tyre, swingarm, hugger, rear seat and my boots! And all the bits in between!! He then mentions my small number plate and tells me to have a nice day!

So off i rumble a little more sedate than before (Around corners anyway!) and make it home!

Im not that bothered to be honest, its back to Johns for a little gasket work, the bottom and rear of the alternator side gasket has failed. It hadnt happened when it was bein Dynoed, just when i got hold of it!

John is gutted, he thought he had rid of me for a while, and it was nothing to do with his work, he even offered to come and collect it tonight, but i told him id ride it the 30 odd miles to his work shop.

She is flippin' superb though with a noise that makes everyone sit up and notice! Everyday owning a Ducati is an adventure!

You were lucky with that oil, mate. What power did it make?

Yorkie
15-08-2008, 06:04 PM
Yep but i just see it as a self lubricating motorbike!! The back end is not going to rust!

Its not run in yet but John had it at about 80 bhp, so not to bad! Once run in it may make a little more!

Looks very nice. Fancy the idea of no belt covers myself, has anyone run them long term?
I suppose its one of those things, its unlikely that anything will get in there but if it does you could be f****d?
