Get them cut! It sounds savage but its easier and cheaper than re-doing the link pipes!

However you are cutting termi's!!!!

Buy some cheaper cans and cut them and save the termi's!!!

I thought Gilps did them himself, on the bandsaw at work?

Do a search on here I seem to remember writing it up before.
Its Really easy, Just take your time. All you will need is a drill, hacksaw, and pop rivet gun.
PM me if you need to ask any questions and I can talk you through it.
Also ask Scotty I think he is about to chop his.

Here: I shortened my Termi's by 75mm,pretty simple if they dont need all re-packing. Drill out the rivets remove the end cap,put a ring of masking tape around near to the line you want to cut off and mark a good line all around it, with a fine tooth hacksaw blade take your time and remove the offending piece of carbon, then mark a line on the perforated tube the same distance from the end that you have cut off the case and remove that and any wadding etc. re-drill and rivet-Job Done. It really is quite simple and will explain itself once the cans are apart.
As I repacked all of mine because a lot of the wadding had burnt away they where not much louder when finished.

Jimmy, What did the replacement sleeves look like, where they a similar weave to the Termis or a completely different pattern?

Mines 315mm long thats the sleeve length not overall length, I would say 300-320mm is what you need as they look longer with the heat shields fitted.

Hello boys. I cut about 4" off very cleanly with an industrial bandsaw. I put masking tape at the point of the cut. It was like a knife through hot butter. Rich then drilled out the rivets and refitted the end caps, and fitted new Termi stickers as I had cut through the old ones. You really can't tell that the works been done, apart from the length obviously.

Not a great deal really. The packing in mine was past its best so I re-packed them at the same time I chopped them, so there was not a lot of difference-maybe even slightly quieter but deeper sound. The open airbox makes more noise so you can't really here the cans apart from on the over run.
If you are worried about that kind of thing you can add some DB killers. Never had problems with the police at all either for cans or plate.
I would presume the neighbours must like them as they've not said anything!

It definitely changed mine a little. There is slightly less of the Termi rumble, but only bit, but it now has a lovely bark to it and crackles on the oever run.
