Having been away I'm well overdue a decent ride out. If anyone fancies taking in some very nice country roads off the beaten Henley on Thames track on Saturday 9th August - meet at Chiswick Flyover Service Station at 11.30am.

http://www.streetmap.co.uk/newmap.srf?x=519250&y=178250&z=1&sv=519250,178250&st=4&ar=N&mapp=newmap.srf&searchp=newsearch.srf&ax=519274&ay=178348

Would like to make it earlier but need to pick up my jacket from 9lives in Farnborough.

If the weather allows for planned route it will be a good 140 mile round journey. If not, will shorten it to usual route.

Fingers crossed for some summer shine!

Jon.

Damn, it's Doris's birthday, if it wasn't i would have headed over from this way to say hello, would have been good to catch up mate. There's a bit of a good route from Swindon to H-on-T i know where i used to work not far away, maybe next time.

Hope the weather stays good for you!!!!

Cheers,

Shandy

If you could bear to change plans at all HH after getting your jacket - there is a big Ducatisti regular meet at Box Hill this Sat (2nd Sat of the month) from 10.30 - middayish.

Shame fella. Definitely would have been good to catch up. Just got back from a road trip in the States and at times did remind me of the good ol' WDW trip. Will definitely have to sort something out.

I do, Terry. Will send a PM.

Would definitely come to join. :)

Nice one, Yan. Hope to see you then.

Hi Charlotte,

Would make sense and then do this trip another time, but have sort of pre-planned this with a few of the London regulars. Cheers for the suggestion though. Could arrange a ride down for Sep't.

Count me in buddy.

Excellent, fella. You'll enjoy the roads.

On bits where there are no turn offs you may as well take the lead, as I think you'll appreciate the twisties the most.

hahaha I just like to give the ohlins a proper thrashing ;-)

metaphorically speaking i'll sacrifice a goat for dry weather conditions!

That's the only reason why you get better angles than me. Yeah right.

Any other Londoners out there? Without tempting fate it's gonna be decent weather!

I would still ride in the rain :)

Headhunter

Is looking like light rain around 1pm according to Met office.

Either way guys, I'll be there at 11.30am for a 11.50 kick off. Terry, as discussed will text/call to you let you know what's happening and if you're at the agreed pub - brilliant.

Yan, will adjust route according to conditions but will be a decent bimble in any event.

Worst case scenairio (and prob unlikely due to potential commitments) is to do it on Sunday when the weather is good.

Must admit I'm not a fan of riding in the rain for fun so will probably be swearing at kitchen stuff, would be up for Sunday.

Hi Cragie,

If we don't see you mate, hope there are not too many feck, a*rse, crunts mentioned.

Mine is fecking directed towards the weather at the moment. It's fecking August for feck's sake! True British Summer, I guess.

If anyone can't make tomorrow I'll be up for a meet on Sunday around mid-day. Prob like others - got to allow for night before to wear off.

Re tomorrow: Will be picking up jacket, so won't be able to check forum in the morning. Hope to see you there Yan and any others that make it.

hi fellas, i will be free for sunday as well, so either tomorrow or sunday. What should we do? Back to you Jon?

Headhunter
08-08-2008, 11:15 PM
Have sent you a pm, Yan. Am quitely confident it will be okay tomorrow with the odd light shower.

Sunday may be a no go for me, so will be at garage unless it's pissing it down/blatantly obvious to sack it.

Hi Jon, I will be there unless it is absolutely chucking it down. See you there :)

Hi all,

Just got back from 9lives and weather is good but a bit windy down there.

Met office's predictions for 1sh is sunshine with light rain, so i reckon it's gonna be:

1. Day like our Brighton trip - looks bad but turns out to be perfectly fine.

2. Is absolutely fine but we hit some rain just like the time we met Slob etc at burger bar.

See those who can make it at 11.30 and Terry at the pub, if weather holds.

Set off thinking the weathermen must be wrong, my flat is east facing, 2 mins later its pissing on me, think if its like this in the east and the rain is coming from west....home. Which is where I am, next time hopefully. Maybe without me you might get no rain, it seems that every time recently I put my leathers on and get out the rain starts. Be lucky.

Small turnout but good to see Yan, Diego and Fatbloke.

Even though it did rain, we still gave the backroads a good thrashing. Hopefully when the weather decides to sort itself out we'll get out there again - could hook up with some of the new Oxfordshire members in HonT, as Terry did today.

p.s. Diego - loved the bit at the end - rain added a new element of "ooohhhh sh*t"

Good to see you Jon / Yan & Diego shame about the shtie weather, give me a call next time.
Are you going to Popham next week?

Headhunter
09-08-2008, 06:04 PM
Unfortunately not. Will be back in Oxon to clearing out loads of rubbish.

Will definitely drop you a line next time round, Terry.

Rachel/Pedro, if you're reading this is there any way of mass emailing/pm'ing London registered users?

OMG never been so wet on a bike before :D like having a bath with the bike jacket and pants on... Great fun though. Definitely should ride in rain more... :D

Only joking of course, but still it was not too bad at all. Thanks you Jon, Diego and Fatbloke for turning up.

Jon, Yan, Fatbloke...good to see you chaps. A real pleasure!

Fun ride despite the showers and soggy gloves! Good to get the ''ducati'' fix after all and reflect upon the twisties in the rain. All this in the dry comfort of my flat with a leffe blonde in my hand ;-)

I thought I was on acid or pissed as a fart when looking at one of those photo's. Love the last one! Real caption photo.

When the weather improves we'll have to do it again, guys.

Any Londoners out there looking for some excellent country roads am sure Yan/Diego/former el presidente can vouch for the fun factor.
