Might sound like a silly question, but having never seen a brand new monster i don't really know!

I think most standard exhausts have bare aluminium cans and stainless steel pipes. Both Monsters in our garage do, anyway!
The stainless is shiny, but colours up a bit with usage and heat. The alloy has a sort of 'brushed' or 'soft sheen' finish, if you see what I mean. It looks tidy, IMO, but they aren't polished.

In my experience standard pipes are a crap grade of stainless, which take a loads of effort to polish but looks pants again after a few weeks. Aftermarket headers are usually made of a better grade stainless, which holds a polished finish much longer.

Original headers can be kept looking good if you can be arsed...

unfortunately I can't be arsed ;)

You could do both......polish AND fit belly pan.

Well, I started. Tried with the Dremel but it was taking forever, so i just took the pipes off and did them on my polishing mop. The doenpies are really grainy, but I can't be bothered to polish them smooth so dremel will ahve to do for those (under the boke anyway, you can hardly see them.

horrible yellow/brown complete with marks off the mandrel bender.
