When I brake hard on my 1999 M900 I get a juddering through the handlebars, anyone any idea what the problem could be?

Could be...

1. Warped discs
2. Gummed up bobbins that hold the disc to the centre of the rotor assembly
3. Knackered steering head bearings
4. Something loose somewhere!

I get that! I used to treat it as a form of antilock breaking but the MOT man says warped discs. £180 ea - boo hoo

Check the bobbins aren't gummed up as Pedro says. Often semi-floating disks(standard Duc fare with sprung bobbins) get gummed up with brake dust etc. A good soaking in brake cleaner and a bit of scrubbing may free them up and bingo! no more apparently warped disks.
