R&G crash bungs

I'm going to buy some R&G crash bungs for my 695 - the main one that goes on the frame. I've noticed that R&G do two different kinds - the original round ones and a new teardrop shaped design.

Does anyone know which of the two are better? The original round ones look more substantial and I would obviously like to get the ones that are most likely to save my plastic tank in a spill as I know from unfortunate experience how expensive tanks are to replace!

I've got no experience of the teardrop ones, but the original ones have saved my bacon and Her Grace's tank a couple of times after careless drivers decided they wanted to be exactly where I was on a roundabout.

Don't forget to get the bar ends, too, as they'll save your mirrors and levers.

My GF 695 has the normal ones on. They are worth having. I'll have to check the teardrop ones out because I think the 695 ones will fit a 696 too. I just need the time to remove hers to check!

Think I'll go for the original design - definately a worthwile addition to the bike I reckon!

I reciently fitted the teardrop ones on my S4R and they look like they should do the job in the event of a spill , my 800sie was a write off after a 30mph drop with out any fitted, so I really hope these are up to it.

They saved my Speed Triple. Just a new mirror mount required after a 20-30mph slide. Bodywork untouched and I just filed the burrs off the footpegs.

Worth every penny, IMO.

Personally I prefer the round ones on a Monster. The more aerodynamic ones probably look OK on a faired bike. Personal preference really.
The round ones saved my bike at the weekend when some **** pushed it over.
Just ordered some bar ends from R&G as one of mine took the brunt of the fall.

Think I'll probably get some fork sliders too....

I added fork sliders when I picked up the main sliders, after seeing the damage last time I was not taking any chances, especially after the insurance engineer commented "that a set of £100 sliders would of probably saved the bike! " the sick feeling that it had been one of those 'tomorrow' jobs was not something I was going to go through again.

i've got the normal cylinder shaped R&G bungs on the S4R and think they look excellent. Got the little ones on the front forks and one on the rear wheel...nice.

Thanks for all the feedback guys.

Am going to order some round frame sliders + fork protectors from R&G this evening. Will probably get the bar ends too. At the end of the day if £130 spent on crash protection can help avoid £2500 worth of damage then it's a sound investment in my book!

Now have the R&G frame sliders, fork protectors and bar ends fitted - definately look good. Will post some photo's once I finish adding some more odds and ends to my bike!
