What is involved in doing the tail mod?
I expect a hacksaw will be required? gulp!

As the title suggests, it certainly does!
But its far easier (and more exciting) with an angle grinder/cutter

Always makes for better sparks!

Where on earth is this thread going!

BluprintZ..... I'd do a search for tail and chop. Lots of info and pics in there.

Cheers mate, i had a chat with her half an hour back, the kits have all long gone, so i'll check out some of the posts and get stuck in this weekend, after the Grand Prix and Moto GP.
Thanks again,
George.

Another option, is to get the tiny carbon tail thing that I got.
You only have to chop about 6 inches off the frame then, and it keeps a nice line running from the subframe.
Also keeps a bit of the rain spray off your bum when it rains!

I think the carbon bit it about £80 from this german company, and no extra brackets or anything are needed, as it uses all the standard stuff.

I got pictures if you want em.

Cheers bertieflea, it's a wee bit fuzzy but a nice step by step tutorial nonetheless.
The cutter gives a nice clean cut, no filings over everything.
Nice one.

Is this the kit you mentioned previously, £80?
Looks like it should be an easy job.

Nice one, cheers.

Thats the one I was on about!

Still needs about 6 inches off the tail, but when its on, it looks much better than no tail at all!

I got mine from someone on ebay I think. Or some german carbon company.
Cant remember now.
But they delivered it quickly, and it is the mutts nutts.

Pictures coming up. Soon. When I find my camera!

Cheers DB, sorry mate, got confused as to who said what, still recovering from the TT. LOL.
Have you checked out the vid on the other post?
I'll look forward to the pics.
I need to get the job done fairly soon, some of the lads have named the stock tail "my butty carrier", seems like it is just the right size for Warburtons finest.
Strange what amuses some people innit?

Thanks again DB.

I don't know whether anybody else has mentioned it but be aware of which frame you have as the tail is a different angle and shape on the later models, which means that some of the carbon shiny stuff on this thread won't fit.

Cheers BB, mine is a `97 model, so it should be fine?
To be honest, i quite like the tutorial on youtube, i fancy a day in me mates workshop gettin' me hands dirty for a change and fabricating my own, should be fun.
Maybe i'll take some step-by-step pics, we'll see.
