Has anyone changed the amount of sprocket teeth on there monster? I was thinking maybe 2 more teeth on the back, or one less on the front with one more on the back.

If anyone has done this mod I would love to hear about it especially if it was a S4R. It's a bit snatchy (mmm) in town.

Probably the most common mod on a monster, I did the 14tooth front shortly after getting my S2R and before even riding my SC1000S,also did my old 916 too. Makes it a lot easier to ride at lower speeds and makes sense of sixth on the motorway.

I also did the 14t front sprocket and think it makes the bike better around town and faster from the lights hehe

Like they said - drop a tooth on the front it's cheap and worth every penny.

Makes the bike much more 'usable' round town.

And it'll wheelie more easily too!

I put a 14t on the front of my S4R. Although it was more tractable around town, I didn't like the chain's proximity to the top slider of the swing arm, it was too close for my liking so I changed it back.

yes always up the rear for me,

and I fit larger sprockets at the back rather than smaller at the front

Erm... I did the 1 down on the front of my S4 but, due to a lack of proper items on the day, I also had to go UP one on the rear!! Made for an interesting time the first few times I rode it afterwards. I tended to look like the most ridiculous unicyclist on the roads!!

It does make for proper traffic light starts once you get used to it and the couriers around Westminster must have thought I was mental!! :D

Brilliant, Thanks for the input. I think I'm going to go the one down, one up route. Any advice on make, Renthals etc.

I fitted a 14 tooth front sprocket to my S2R 1000, I also wasn't keen on the limited swingarm clearance & also the loss of some chain adjustment, so I also took mine back off, it does make the bike very lively in town though.

I still have it in the garage, it's only done 20 mls, if it will fit an S4RS, let me know, you can have mine at a knock down price.

14 on the front of my 900ie - very useful round town, and pretty much everywhere else too!!!
