Autobahns are motorways and highways are 'A' or Trunk roads. These are easily edited text fields and you can change them to whatever you want.
I think it was in the 3.80 update that Garmin decided that everyone outside the US is German and therefore drives on Autobahns. Maybe they're just too young to know that G actually lost the war. Twonks! :twak:

Here's the best site for Zumo info. Just search for 'Autobahns' and you'll soon find how to change the text to something a little more sensible.

Checkout this link look for ECM's posts. He's created a downloadable file that at least 1 UK chappy was happy with. Handy if you're not good with computers.

BTW you can't edit directly on the Zumo - connect to Mac first (or PC).

Aha - the zumo 550 is what I'm considering purchasing at some point soon - is the extra worth it over the 500 does anyone know?

As far as I can remember, the 500 doesn't announce street names ( like in 200m turn right into Whitehall etc.) and only only has GB maps (and possibly major roads in Europe.

Not having street names announced is no loss in my eyes, but it is a laugh listening to the English voice trying to pronounce Dutch street names.

The 550 has complete maps of W Europe, so living partly on the continent it was the best choice for me. I think you can compare models on the Garmin site, have a look there.

As you can tell I have the 550 and these days I don't even use a headset anymore, just keep an eye on the map .

Oh yes, my Zumo 550 came with a holder\mount with built in speaker for in the car which has proved very usefull several times now. I think this is quite pricey if you need to buy it separately. I'm pretty sure it's not supplied with the 500.
