View Full Version : Weekender Activity 2008 - The Final Decision!

OK guys and gals, we really need to decide what we're going to do, or we run the risk of not being able to book anything!

The choices are:

1. Indoor karting (price approx £30 per head) - location quite close to the Mill. Decent ride out in the morning, lunch at a pub, then a quick whizz back to the Mill afterwoods.

2. Mini motos (approx £35 per head) - The same location as 2 years ago. Very popular (apart from with Nonnie!) and a right giggle for spectators as well! This is a couple of hour's ride away, and lunch would have to be a sandwich from a shop on the way.

Please make your choices. We really need at least 25 people for each of these, and the mini motos gets cheaper the more people we have.

Both events will be Grand Prix format - practice, then heats, then grand final with prizes.

Everyone is welcome - even if you're not coming to the weekender, everyone is welcome to take part in the activity.

Get voting people - I need to make a decision within the next 2 weeks!

Boing!

Come on people - need more votes!

Where is everyone?

8 votes? I'm gonna need a few more than that, or we'll end up doing neither!

I feel sick, just thinking about the indoor karting fumes!

Not keen on either option to be honest, not being a miserable git, just that I have done both things so many times before. Sorry.

The morning ride out & pub lunch sounds good.

I was thinking of visiting the National Motorcycle Museum on the Sat afternoon or if the weather is really nice picking out a nice route to ride.

Right, looks like the indoor karting is going to be the winner.

However, I don't really want to commit to a booking with such low numbers, so I really need at least 20 (I have to pay a deposit, and they usually have a minimum number of 25).

I'll assume that the mini-moto peeps would also be happy to kart (please say if you're not).

Darry - believe it or not, the mini moto fumes were worse!

We went there 2 years ago and its cheap and well worth it with some nice pubs on route too.

The museum and pub sound good to me also.
A nice gentle pootle around the country side in the sunshine..
Especially if numbers are going to be a problem.

SazzaG

That'll certainly be the plan if the numbers don't work out.

I got really sick at the outdoor karting too... I'm very a very sensitive guy :D

That's why only managed 3rd place ;)

Funnily enough, I voted for mini moto.

Hehe

I'm happy with either/all...

I'd like to do something silly on wheels on the Saturday, as we have the National Rideout on the Sunday (with pub lunch too of course) - but there are miles of lovely roads in Warwickshire to take in over the weekend - so whatever we decide it'll be great to be out on the Monster again!

Nonnie - remember - watching mini moto is good!!!

Hello!

I am declining with the activity as I make a better spectator and of course if Nonnie is on the mini motos, I will indeed need to be on red alert with the helicopter :p

I have expressed an interest for Dave (Cat & Fiddler) as he isn't able to log on very often.

slighlty off subject is there going to be a voting form for the prizes at all or is it just a think of stuff and mail it

Nonnie

The forum awards are done by me via pm, there is a list going up of categories shortly.

The other bike prizes are done on Sunday morning at the weekender.

By the number of votes, does this mean we have 24 people who are willing to do a motorised activity?

If so, we need to start a list of names of who's definitely in, please copy and paste and add you name:

SazzaG

Ooh, it could go either way!

Right, in case we have a tied vote, I need to know how flexible people are in which activity we do. I also want to get this sorted out by the end of tomorrow.

Please put your name on this list, stating which activity you ARE happy to do:

OK guys,

I'm sorry to say that due to lack of numbers, I think we're going to have to can the karting/mini moto idea. It's just going to work out too expensive for mini-motos if we can't make 25, and we need that number minimum to guarantee exclusivity with the karting.

Of course the plan for a ride out and lunch still stands, and I'm sure a trip to the motorcycle museum can be organised if peeps are up for that.

You may laugh, but we could have done with that last year when it pi$$ed down!

Saz - have you spoken to Denis about the Sunday National Rideout route/pub yet? Once that's sorted, I can always help out with a ride route for the Saturday if you like...

So does Didge apparently, but his version's not really for spectators of a nervous disposition :eyepopping:

Pity about the karting & moto's - but it makes sense to cut our losses now and make other plans. I'm happy to go with the flow regardless

benson
17-04-2008, 11:58 PM
Let me tell you it was pure class GT - and in no way could it be compared to Didge's efforts which I do believe were rather olfactory as opposed to my aural delights!!! ooooeeerrrrr!!! :didge:

How about this???

I was watching World's Wackiest Sports last night and there was something called Harley Hotdog where your pillion has to try and grab hold hold of a hot dog dangling from a string as you ride underneath it.

What about Ducati Doughnut?

You may or may not take me seriously
