Clutch lever

Had a new clutch lever fitted last week and now the clutch engages very abruptly. It's doing my head in. Just moving the lever out away from the bar has the clutch engaged. I know the little knobs on the levers adjust the distance from the bars. Will fiddling with that fix it, or is the fix to be found somewhere else?!

Is it a original part or a pattern. I remember buying some pattern ones on my 900 and I had to file the alloy a bit as it was too tight a fit. Sounds similar but obviously Im not sure.
