My fuel light has been coming off and on for ages now when theres plenty of fuel in the tank, what is causing it to do that? Then I can take the black tape off the light and wont have to put up with "FUEL" flashing up all the time.

sounds like the level switch in the tank. i had the same prob last year. new one from ducati and 10mins to fit. can't remember the price. prob around £600 :)

your not far off on the price there

Ideally test it out first if you have a multimeter

(sounds like the sensor in this case)

I had the opposite problem a while back, where the fuel light hardly ever came on, turned out to be a suspect connection around the headstock

I would check the wiring/connections to the sender before swapping sender unit. If bike's under 2 years old Ducati should replace a faulty sender FOC?

real pain cos apparently they need to practically strip the bike!! had fuel sender replaced on last two monsters (S4 then S4R now waiting for it to go on the S4RS and guess it won't till warranty runs out!!)

Already mentioned but:

Check wiring.

If no fault there it's prob the sensor.

Its a 04 plate so warranty ran out ages ago, think I'll leave it like it is then!
See what a mate says about what you've all said and see if he can sort. Cheers guys. Manda

At least you've got a fuel light, I have to rattle the tank and guess if I've got enough to get me anywhere:worried:
