Im struggling big time trying to find a tank colour that will look great. Tonite i have tried everything to try and make the tank go well. Masked it up with different colours. White goes and so does black. I have tried tricolor with teh original red but I dont think so. Under certain lights the bike looks orange but is a red.Its more like the Senna red. I cant get the real look of paint with shadow and stuff. I can post a pic on frame if it helps.

I'll have a word with Beth (The other half), she's a dab hand at photoshop, might not be for a few days tho.

What colour are you looking for Albie. I made up over thirty different colour schemes for the design work on my 1098, so if you tell me what you want I can have a go for you. A picture under natural light would be best but I can use the two you posted up here if that is all you have. Is it just the one plain colour you want or two or more variants?

You hit the nail on the head when you said 'under certain lights'.
Colour is relative to its surrounding colours and the light its viewed under, and you should only judge it in natural daylight or colour corrected (blueish) lights, under a bulb everything will appear warmer or yellow making reds seem orange etc., in flouro lighting the greens will be emphasised a bit.

Photoshop of the whole side view of a complete bike would be best. No skills in that dept I'm afraid. My vote goes to white (subject to seeing it!), then light silver/grey - possibly with graphics?

Superb, and I have changed my mind! Dark grey or black gets my vote. Although, neon orange is strangely nice...

I think it's pretty much black, red or white with some groovey graphics.

I must admit I got home early tonite and tried to look at the colour in natural daylight. I cant roll it out as no tyres for a week on wheels advised.
Its a definate Red but you can see an orange gradient coming in. It looks red from different angles. As soon as it sees some light it turns a shade. I have thought about it tonite with caroline and definately black will be ok but I wondered if I could run the original red wit a stripe through centre through to seat cowl or we think White or s4rs pearl would br very nice. I can take some better photos 2 moro if it helps. I really appreciate the help from you lot as I want this to look nice. I spent endless hours gambling on colours and I feel I may have f***ed up but I genuinely like the colour.

Albie,

As advised a while ago ducati reds are very difficult to match - especially in powdercoat rather than spray paint. The red on your frame does look a bit more orange than red, which is why I posted my "does it match the tank ok?" comment a few days ago, and why black gloss/satin frame & wheels would have been an easier option.

I'd personally go for a contrast colour on the bodywork, rather than attempting to match it to the frame. Black or Senna grey would work - but I the silver/black stripe scheme on the S2R1000 would also look really neat. It took two attempts & 8 weeks to get the bodywork sorted on the trike - so stick at it mate ;)

That's a very red rear wheel you've got there...

Nah its a reddy colour. Panic over and Im very happy well sort of :fou: about the final colour scheme. I managed to bodge up a photoshop image of someone elses in MOB site and it works in theory.

I have to say Albie, I'm loving it as it is - great colour scheme. Perhaps just a Corsa white stripe down the middle?
