View Full Version : Rear brake binding problem!

I've had a problem for a while with the rear brake on my 900. While out for a ride, it 'pumps up', so there is no movement in the pedal, and the brake starts binding. If I lay off it for a few miles, and just use the front brake, it frees off and is ok. I suspect either master cylinder seals or caliper piston seals, but has anybody had this who can advise which to look at first? Not wanting to spend time/money doing the wrong one first!!
Cheers, Matt.

I'm no expert but that sounds like the master cylinder is binding (quite common)
Although I do have a cure! I never ever use the rear brake and
can report no problems with the not using of said thingy

Have you not read the article in RIDE (the monster edition) fatbloke?
Gives tips on a technique for riding slow whilst using the rear brake.
Unless of course you never ride slowly!
