I had a standard seat remodelled for when I'm taking a passenger. The pillion bit doesn't slope down & is more comfortable. It's also much quicker to replace the whole seat than take the cowl off. I also have a pair of Motrax 'love handles' for my wife & daughter & they feel much more secure.

Good in theory (and on a VIF), but hard to lean forward on a Monnie as you're already rammed into the back of the rider's lid.

Molemeister  Friends won't get on a bike with you, huh?

Holding on round the rider's waist is an oldie but a goodie; in extreme cases you can get Love Handles but I've never used them...

For rapid deceleration, hands on the tank. Grab rails are good if you've got 'em, tailpieces better than nothing if ditto (the R6's tail suffered a bit, bless it). Also leaning back (but only if confident the rider isn't going to shoot off again - CAKES!) For mild deceleration, if you press into your feet and push your hips forward a bit your trousers will kind of hold you in place...

I'm getting a top box for the ktm. Acts as a great backrest when number 1 son is on the back.

Not going to fit one of them, I would rather bungee her to the back.

I have seen handles on the frames of S4's but mine does not have then.

Any body got a picture of a single grab rail on a monster?

I'd have a thought a 600 or 620 would stop that, as in get one put pillion on that. Scares the carp out of me, I'd rather walk and much rather ride myself.

Oh you also might find that that tying a knot in the throttle cable to act as an engine power control limiter would help, but the mobile balcony cage nooooo don't!! s'not a harley!!

Several options I think...

1. Don't take one / take pillion pegs off
2. Vecro on the back of your jacket/front of hers
3. Encourage pillion to take test and buy own bike

If you must take a pillion, get a Tribo seat cover off Ebay, make a world of difference. I think JP had a grab rail - drop him a pm, I'm sure he'll have pics

Accelerating slightly more slowly and braking a little earlier and less hard may help. Or is that out of the question with the folks on here?

I had a spare seat altered which made it more user friendly then fitted an aventura rack system. This allows for just a grab rail or for a rack if the need arises.

I agree, I have developed into an expert pillion, Chris put a very small grab rail on our monster, the trick is to push your bottom into it-even though the rail is small, it is strong enough to take it :worried: But i definately agree with David-also when he brakes I used to lean my hands on my thighs blah blah anyway I dont hold on anymore, but i couldn't do it without that tiny support at the back.

I don't think anything would be as foolhardy as the time I went pillion on Rods old bike, the 999 with a broken wrist! I didn't worry though, not really, he's a very smooth rider. Way too much information!

I tried to get on cakes's bike after I had an eye operation and wasn't allowed to open my peepers http://www.saddle-up.org.uk/forums/style_emoticons/default/blush.gif . Fortunately he has more sense than me and brought the car

I didn't used to hold on on the Fazer but when he learnt to wheelie off the throttle and nearly turned me into a fairing mascot on a mates bike I decided to get my own, saves a lot of kidney punching and aggro. Get tother halfs test booked in and treat it as a very generous birthday gift and you'll never have to worry again!

You can just see it sticking up at the back of the seat on Neans avatar 944, it is pretty good kit and I can vouch for that, its called 'Ventura' bloody expencive though, 120 quid for a bit of ironmongery! but it is a hand made peice and all the joints on it are brazed, I still had to do a slight mod to it to streangthen it up, we loaded it up like this last summer, its a wonder it didnt break.
