On a bloomin' cold February morning JerryXT & I 'Did' Brands Hatch.
Jerry on his 748R track bike and me on my S4R road bike.

Plenty of trips across the grass for me today, and one for Jerry on his first lap. I had a few locked up back wheels to put me wide and off the track a couple of times too. Lack of confidence & skill.

Unfortunately, the session before last saw Jerry in the Kitty litter just after we left the pits and his cold front tyre folded just as he turned into Paddock Hill bend for the first time.
Long white lines of paint work, fairing & handle bar across the track, Jerry tumbling after his bike into the gravel.

Bike's a bit of a mess but nothing that can't be replaced.
And Jerry's OK thank God.

Once I figure our how to shrink my pictures I'll put them up.

Oh dear oh lord what a mess but as you say hes ok. Glad you both enjoyed your day. Get a photobucket account and use it as a host to have full size pics. Its free and easy when you understand what to copy and paste. If I can do it you can. I spent this afternoon polishing the dust off the 748. And took some pics. Better nick than jerrys now:eek:

Jerry - very sorry to hear about your spill but at least you are OK which is the main thing. I know the 748 is a track bike but I would be gutted if it were mine. Hope you get it sorted soon. Trackday in February? You & JP are braver than me!

Wot a muppet!! :D

Glad to hear all can be mended, and that J is a walking soldier :)
No doubt Kato/AK might be involved in assisting replacing a few bits on the R - but the fairings now look a bit righteous (but not like J's usual spangly things)

Thanks chaps! :ukm:

Not entirely happy tho. Still, mosty paint and track fairings and as I've been repeating since this afternoon, that's the point of a track bike - have fun, but at the end of the day, if it goes down, it's better that bike goes down than my nice bike.

The stupid thing is that I'd been absolutely nailing it around the track all morning and just lost the front because the tyres were cold. Just had time to register that the ground was getting closer in an unplanned way and BANG. Don't know what the speed was, but given the revs and gear, probably 60-70. I had time to look for the bike - couldn't see it - flipped over a couple of times to see up Paddock Hill from a unique angle to make sure there was no-one about to squish me and then straight onto the beach.

I very nearly threw my hat into the gravel, but I'm glad I didn't cos there's not a mark on it.

The damage looks like footpeg, brake lever, bar, clutch cover (which BTW I'd just been saying to JP was a standard closed one, so if it went down, it wouldn't destroy the clutch), tank mounting pin and lots of paint and plastic. And carbon. And leather.

But, up til then, the bike was behaving perfectly. Going from

hold the power, hold the power, hold the power
BRAKE, BRAKE, BRAKE
tuuurrrrnnn - POWER!!!!

Off to fleabay now for some fairings.

I'm glad your okay.

Lucky the bike needs only cosmetic surgery.

Still check her over with a fine toothed comb before taking her out on the track again.

I take it that she is a "she".

Pleasure and pain, must be female.:spin:

Jerry - you really are rubbish :D you have only mullered the rearset mate - you managed keep the front lever intact - or so it looks in the pic (just as well, as it looks like a 'spensive lever:eek: )

C (big hug to you mate, xx)
