One of the DD'ers - Skidlids I think - did some testing with 900 headers on an SS. He ran Dyno runs with standard 583 headers and headers off a larger bike, a 750 IIRC. The 583 headers gave better readings, either BHP or midrange ,can't remember which. He now runs the standard headers as they proved to be better on circuit. I think it's something to do with exhaust flow or back pressure.

Standard 900 headers won't fit the 600 without modification, the 900 and 600 barrels are different lengths.
Why change the headers anyway? The 900 cans will fit the 600 headers.

Are you sure Graham ?..as I say...louigi slotted a full 900 system straight onto my 600..? I watched him do it !

There may be some scope for adjustment on a full system perhaps? The standard headers are one piece with the two downpipes joined directly to the crucifix and the relative positions of the exhaust ports are fixed.

the headers and maybe the pipes will rob the lump of low down grunt. That's what a mate who did, er, rather well in DD last year found.

I was talking to the guys at ProTwins on Sat. They're racing 1098Rs in superstock this year and they and all the guys on the big Rs are putting 70mm systems on to reduce mid range. They get a few more bhp at the top, but that's a bonus.
