Hi Beds and Bucks,
Well I'm off to my first Biking Event of 2008 - The Barrel Bikers, "Firkin of Bitter" Rally in Beachampton north-west of Milton Keynes.
As usual the forecast is Snow, Frost, -5.C temperaures etc, but as this Rally is always the first week of February, what do you expect!
Anyway, saddling up soon and hoping that maintaining the correct level of blood in my alcohol stream, will prevent me from freezing into the perma-frost!
See you all soon. MH.

Just set fire to your neighbours tent - that should keep you warm :)

You should try it Nonnie, you don't half appreciated a leccy blanket afterwards.
Basing this pearl of wisdom on the experience of a trip to the elephant rally, Bavaria in January tend to be a bit frisky.

I have tried. I didn't like! That was Ireland last year in the "Summertime". It rained for 11 days solid (oh yes, as long as our holiday - and I use the term very loosely) lasted. I even brought a hook up for the tent with a heater and it was still cold, still wet, everything leaked, the ground sheet looked like Glastonbury, I couldn't possibly bring enough clothes so had to wash them and they never dried, it was miserable, cold and wet and the only good thing about it was packing up and going home and my boss said I should be very proud of myself having reduced my carbon footprint and I said I didn't care and that next year I would be chartering my own jet and going to Spain.
Camping? Moi? Never again.

My hands have just about thawn out, so that I can type without smashing the keyboard. Yep...camping...lots of fun, same rally last year was so cold at night that all of the tents froze and when I opened the tent flap to get out in the morning, it stayed up like a sheet of white cardboard.
The trick is to wear several layers of clothing and ensure there is not too much blood in your alcohol stream.
Seriously had a cracking time, good beer, good grub and a good laugh with me mates!

Hmmm.....some of these Guys are rather on the large size.....not really recommended unless a visit to the Luton & Dunstable A&E department is desired.:eyepopping:
