Hi,

I have a 2001 m600 and was wondering if an alloy swingarm from a m900 would fit and if it was worthwhile for the weight saving?
Any info greatly appreciated
thanks

It can be made to fit, but i very much doubt you'll notice any difference at all whilst riding it. Also bear in mind the M900 uses a wider rear wheel.

So not much of a weight reduction then? Im just generally trying to reduce the weight of the bike.

Wouldnt bother for the weight difference - the work/price isnt worth it.

Change bolts from steel to alloy, do tail chop to lighten - but you wont lose that much (unless you do a drastic diet, and as i dont know you, I hope you will take this in a light-hearted way! :o ).

If you want to go quicker, look at engine mods or tuning - but power costs too:woot:

Even with our race bikes, we have prob only lost about 5 kilo's (losing all roud going equipt such as lights,side-stand & wiring etc)- and are now looking at light wheels etc for the new class we are doing.

Hmm..I always thought the alloy arm was a fair bit lighter ?

It is, but on a road bike it'll make pretty much no difference to the riding experience. It's worth doing on a race bike, but even then the difference is pretty marginal.

Not that much in it Natty really - even for race bikes
