Being very short on time and space, giving my monster a good check and scrub-down is very difficult. I have nowhere to put it up on a paddock stand to do basic maintenance checks (brakes/oil change etc.) and nowhere to degrease and wash it.

So on good recommendation from 2 people I'm checking it in with a very reputable guy in London tomorrow morning to do just that.

1. Oil and filter change
2. Check brakes and chain tension, lube chain
3. De-grease engine and give good wash

Total bill: £100 cash price, justified as 2.5 hours x £40/hour.

I don't really have a basis for comparison on this cost, does it seem reasonable to you?

2 1/2 hours to do that little lot ??
i would guess 30 mins tops, plus wash. :Furious: :dizzy: :grump:
but i guess the book says that, so they will use that as a guide.
they might be charging for a full valet, so that would bump the price up.

It was £80 before I asked for it to be cleaned.

if it includes the bits, ie. oil and filter (and they use a decent brand of oil), i suppose its not too bad. plus it saves you the inconvenience.

Yeah. It's Dave Robinson in Wandsworth - will make sure bits are included.

mine always comes back clean - although he usually has to clean the bike to get to the bits that need working on :D

You didn't hear this from me, but... as far as I know he uses the cleaners on Putney Bridge Road to clean the bike... costs £5 per bike. take it there yourself.
