Have heard/read that darks have a difference in suspension than the norm?? Anyone know what the difference is?

Cheers

Less adjustment on the front. Higher spec monsters have spring preload, plus compression and rebound damping adjustment. Dark spec bikes get zero on all counts, and the rear shock is also pretty basic. You have to go up to 'S' spec to get an Ohlins at the back with the fully adjustable front.

The M600 dark suspension is exactly the same as normal 600 suspension. No difference at all.

The M600 dark: some of the later ones did have Showa forks (99 on) - but only SOME! (look at your forks, on the inside of the leg near the bottom, they could say Showa - if not, then they are std marzocchi's)
Rear suspension is the same across the board for the M600's, as Zimbo rightly says:)
The only other main differences between the 600 dark & the std coloured are:
Single discs,
No rear seat cowl
Both of which is easy to add on to bring up to same spec as the brighter 'chums' :)

I'd assumed Ed's question didn't relate to just 600's, as he just asked about dark's in general. Bikes like the 620ie, 750ie, 800ie and 900ie darks, only got bargain basement suspension. My own 2002 900ie dark came with non-adjustable Showa forks, and Sachs rear shock with just preload and combined compression/rebound adjuster. Higher spec models of the same era such as the 'S'ie got fully adjustable forks & some even got a pukka Ohlins rear shock.

Asssumptions eh GT? :D

I also assumed, as his bike is listed as a m600, that he was asking about those.

Never mind, maybe we both need a drink - what are you having mate? :D

Since you ask...

I've just cracked open a bottle of Youngs Waggle Dance

But even Ducati couldnt decide the specs for thses bikes and I reckon if an order had to be fulfilled it would go with higher spec parts. My 900 Dark from 1999 has fully adjustable Showas on the front and an adjustable Sachs shock on the back together with ally swing arm whereas most Darks get a steel swing arm and no adjustment either end.
