Its a horrible dark wet Monday morning and I have been trying to get away from reality by gazing at rude pictures of the road version of the Desmosedici on t'internet.

One question that sprung to mind is because its a 1000cc 4 cylinder production bike, surely you could run one in either superstock or superbike classes?

If it already kicks out maybe 180bhp at the back wheel, it would probably be at a better starting point than your average standard GSXR1000 etc.

I wonder if anyone will be brave, mad or rich enough to give it a go?

and at ONLY £35K a fairly cheap SBK tool too. Not sure enough are being produced to satisfy the regs.

The rumour is that the reason they've eventually allowed Ducati to run a 1200cc 1198 in WSB is that Ducati were threatening to homologate the Desmosedici. They had already met the minimum 1000 needed to qualify. The Japs cacked themselves and let them run a 1200 twin instead. Now that would have been funny.

I guess even at 42K its not a proper race bike and would still need a shedload of cash thrown at it and lots of development- but I am sure the potential is there and I can undertstand why the little yellow men pooed their kimonos!

And this is just the start- how good is the Desmosedici of 2010 going to be?- modern Dukes rarely get slower!
