Afternoon all

I was on the way to work this morning when for once I came across a nice open stretch of straigh dual carriageway, slightly down hill, no cars in front, so I thought I'd see what my baby can do. Got to about 110ish (I know, I know it may be a bit stupid, but I don't do it all the time, honest ! :) ), but didn't seem to want to do much more. Perhaps I haven't quite perfected my Rossi racing crouch, but I though she should do a bit more than that. She gets to 100 in no time, but 100 + takes some effort. It's weird though, because other times I've glanced downat the speedo and been doing over a tone and not even realized.....! Perhaps I was trying a bit too hard to push her, but out of curiosity I was wondering if any other 695ers have squeezed a decent top end out of their bikes, and what I can expect it to be (on a private road, obviously...... :) ).

Have done some Googleing and have found a US site where someone got their 695 dyno'd. Top speed was 134mph in a partial vacum (whatever that means), which supposedly equates to about 120mph in real terms. Sound about right to me. Would be good to get my bike on a dyno, as I would like to get some figures and also make sure she's set up properly. Can anyone recommend anywhere near me?

You can get close to 120mph true speed out of a 583cc monster, so I'd say a 695 should hit 130 on the road.

I can second the 583 CC part.

Had 115mph on my clock and that was totally flat out on a totally empty private stretch of motorway:D
Once you've got to 110 it seems to take forever for the speedo to move!

 Yikes!

Had 135 out of my S4. In 5th. Still pulling like a train all the way.

I did see 125ish one day catching back up with Zimbo and JR, flatish road, .. stupid coach got in the way :( only a peek mind as I tend to give more attention to where I'm going, long as it all feels right I'm happy.
Amazingly revs said 2000 ..

I'll try cross calibrating it with a gps and see how inaccurate it really is one day.

Sebuk,

I've regeared mine to 14/43 from 15/42 (standard), way overgeared as supplied I reckon, mine ran out of puff too. Much better now! Only cost me 65 quid or so fitted using new Renthall sprockets.

If I tried that on mine she'd collapse in a heap! I've done 10mph on our drive no tail wind, dry conditions loads of gravel and two cats passed me!

Phil Seton behind Rollerworld has a full Dyno rig and can fit power Commanders etc. Nice bloke and knows his jap in-line four stuff. Don't know how he is with V-Twins but I reckon as they only have two cylinders, they're easier to set up than Jap stuff. Give him a ring on 01206 866400 and tell him 749 Phil recommended him. Got to be worth a blag or two I reckon. :D

Would that be for trackday practice Gremlin?

Sounds like that may be a good idea, as sixth gear is rubbish - wont ride smoothly below 80! On the plus side I managed between 115 - 120 this morning (on a private stretch of road obviously :) ! ) Now back to riding (slightly) more sedately.......!

Could Also try BDK at Ashwellthorpe near us for Dyno they do all sorts including Ducatis and race tune they're pretty good too. And yes one day I will do a track day, at least I'll be used to kitty litter!

Didn't point out that this was on my 695 not the S2R!

For anyone interested, Phil Seton has a website that gives more information on what he does. For those who don't know, he was MRO champion last year and the bikes he prepares are generally top of their class.
