After straying for 2 years since selling my S4, I'm in the market for a new Monster. I finally sold the S4 after a nightmare of (un)reliability problems, starting after a few days parked up became impossible despite spending a fortune on it.
However ...... I love the look and ride and am needing advice on the 'best' model to buy as I've sort of lost touch with all the new models. I'd be looking for a bike a couple of years old with the same sort of power as my S4.
Adice:scratch: please ....!!!!

Your S4 would have been 98 hp at 8750 and 63ftlbs of torque (85nm) at 7000

Current S2R1000 is 95@8000 and 94nm@6000 - Air cooled 2 valve
Current S4r(s) is 130hp @ 9500 and 103nm@7500 - Water cooled 4 valve

I think the S4 numbers might have been quoted at the back wheel whereas the new models are not. Someone on the forum will know better than me

Top end the 2007 S4r and S4rS are going to be quicker, but the torque figs suggest the s2r1000 on normal road riding isnt going to be left far behind, I've only ridden the s2r800 and S4rS so can't comment on the 1000, but I'd bet its all down to the rider

Basicly test both and see which floats your boat, or buy a S4 again

There you go - no bloody help at all:mand:

For power, it has to be an S4R or an S4Rs. You can get some real bargains on the RS. They're not as expensive as you'd think. I got mine 3000 off new with 350 miles on it.

Ta, so far I'm looking at the S2 1000 route. But living in Scarborough I don't think there's a dealer within 60 miles to arrange a test ride. Anyone know of any dealer closer? It's frustrating cos' I'm ready to go!
The M900 seems to get good press but how would it compare to the latest stuff?, any views gratefully received.
