Had the visit from Nik_da_Brief and Richard_S. over the weekend.
They stopped over on their French tour, whilst waiting for some pink monstrosity that didnt make the ferry crossing...

His pinkness eventually made it to Caen.
Lets hope the weather improves on this side of the channel.
Have fun Lads !

Well I'm back safe and sound and the other two continued from the Bordeaux area in a Provence direction via the Millau Bridge.

Thanks once again Stef for your hospitality not to mention the handy garage facilities. Also to Mrs. Stef for her forbearance and not killing Richard and myself when we rolled up at just before midnight. The garage barbecue was a novel idea and I've finally got the smell out of my shirt.

It'[s a lovely part of the world you live in and there's some fascinating historical sights on your doorstep, was impresed by Ouistreham marina (Sword Beach) and Benouville (Pegasus Bridge) in particular. You'll be delighted to know I bored them even more with old WW2 stuff when I made them detour via Oradour-Sur-Glane - well worth the visit if anybody's heading that way... http://www.oradour.info/

Oh yea - I meant to add that the piece of paper you gave me with details of how to ask for help filling up from an automatic pump that only works with French carte bleu debit cards came in extremely useful indeed on my way home up the peage!

Although my Visa worked fine in Le Clerk and Carrefour stations the automatic ones on the peage do not. I was able to flag down a passing couple and almost appear fluent in the language (or at least explain my predicament and offered 'likkid' in return for a fill-up). :hail:

Yes mate - they returned yesterday safe and sound following high jinks on the Continent, discovering how large France actually is and dicing with death with large lorries on twisty roads...
