My little 600, has a dynojet kit and open pipes, it doesnt feel slow (for a 600), but it wont read 100mph on the speedo. It feels slightly restricted at the top end (but then the other bike is an S4rs), and i am now on the second type of speedo thingy on the front wheel as the other one read really really slow, so how fast is your 600??

I've got a 600 Dark, 2001 model. It is completely standard except for the exhausts, which have had the baffles removed. The most i've had out of mine is about 115mph, that was down hill tho. On a flat surface it will do 110mph

Ok, well i am looking for 115mph then, i shall have to see. I am slightly worried that the speedo drive is the wrong one, but i am on the second one and i guess there are only two to choose from?

and i'm a bit bigger than ruth!!!!

Mine read 115mph up hill and the mate following reckons I was going faster according to his speedo, possibly 120mph that was on a private road of course with 3 lanes!! :chuckle:

Mine was about 115-120mph all out, chin on tank, elbows in and heading down hill. Since the rebuild i've not had a chance or the nerve to see if it will do any more now, any how it's the bit in the middle round the bendy roads that's most fun on an M600

Mine does about 115 indicated. I did get a speedo drive replaced by Daytona once some years back and they put the wrong part on. The giveaway was that I could no longer do 100mph and kept overtaking people all the time when sticking to speed limits according to speedo. Took some months to persuade Daytona of this tho, whilst they suggested it was the guage and did I want to pay £130 for a new one etc etc. In the end I got a mate to drive his car alonside at an indicated 30, 50 and 70 mph and put stickers on speedo at these speeds. This showed that the underreading was consistent so not a faulty gauge and gave me enough idea how fast I was going to avoid me getting speed camera fines until Daytona finally fixed it. If I remember right the part numbers are the same, but one has "A" on the end and one doesn't...

So if you've replaced the speedo drive, and feel like your riding as fast as ever I'd be suspicious - and careful round speed cameras! GPS would make the speedo readings easier to check if you could borrow one....

Phoenix used to get 127 indicated from hers, my speedo read about the same following her.
Gearing has a big impact, no speedo on the DD bikes but they're much faster in top speed on tall gearing at the expense of drive out of corners.

I know this is bragging, because i've got a 916 engine, and yours is a 600, but i've hit 140mph on my S4.
Racing against my mates GSXR600, who hit 156mph.
I am confident that I could get more out of my S4, as I only changed up to 6th at about 120mph.
But with no screen, and no fairing, thats plenty fast enough to scare the crap out of me!

All of this, on a private road. :look:

Mine, flat out in top was doing 71mph

Oh, it was fitted with, brand new, light weight, non friction clutch plates!!

Now all back to normal, and hits that in 3rd gear ;)

Everything else above is reserved for private roads :D

I used to be able to get about 90 flat out from my old M600....although it was restricted to 33bhp!
I've had 110 so far from my 695 (on private road, honestly officer! :) ) but was a fair bit left - I think she'll probably do about 120ish when I'm brave enough!

If you don't have GPS i have found I can see the central digital speedo on Citroen C4 from my bike... get along side one on and compare your speedo to the C4's (on private road of course) if its way out you know somthing is wrong.

I don't like to talk about it, as it's been a problem for some time but me and pecker are getting there.

On a private runway (A43) I got an indicated 130mph on my 620ie. Don't believe it for one second and was probably doing 115 max. Did put a blown back smile on my face though.

To make sure my speedo was working (after I bought one of Nattyboys bargains ), I enlisted the help of an adult with an Aprilia RSV Factory.

He told me it was 135mph.... Speedo probably did tell me that, but wasn't looking :chuckle:

I think thats the answer, i will have to travel next to someone else and see their speedo, have friend with rsv, but i like the sound of the citroen paul, i might hang around our local citroen garage and give them all a race........do you think i would get a reputation?????!!!!

My wifes has had her's up to 115 mph, but I think her speedo is reading way fast. I took the satnav out of my car (Navman) and use it on the bike. The speedo was way out. At 70mph on the duc's speedo the navman was showing 56mph. I wonder what could be wrong with the duc's speedo? or maybe its the navman reading too slow
