On behalf of the UK Buell Enthusiasts Group I'd like to invite UKMOC members to our V-twin Festival in Lincolnshire, on Saturday 21st July.

Last year we had a fantastic turnout from the Ducati clubs with over 60 machines present - despite the thunderstorms!

Please follow this link for full details about this years event: www.bike-pix.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=20051

Please support this if you can, those who've been will hopefully back me up when I say you'll never see a better spitfire display or get so close to Lancaster 'givin it some' and for any petrol head that is worth a fiver of anybody's money, and for a bloody good cause.

If i can I'd like to go, sadly the rain let things down last year (heard that before) but if its sunny it will be one of the best days of the year.

Support it if you can. :D

This was brilliant last year until the trip home when it rained like a rainy thing in rainyland. Wow, did it rain. Oh yes.

Well count me in for this one - I'll be there

Rain - oh yes - I've seen some of that recently!

Well I'll be heading up from East London so if anyone wants to ride up too you know where I am! (Usually quite close to a cafe or ice cream stand!)

strange choice of date given the buell is a dirivative of a harley sportster and there is a huge rally on that weekend to celebrate 50 years of sportsters, the organisers of which are hoping to get one of every year sportster together.

Ah the rain and the ride home, sitting in a cafe with the crumblies soaked through to the skin and yet it was still the best rideout I have been on. Great day, amazing planes and so many lovely bikes. The Buelligans have a ride out from Black Bear Harley in Newmarket and I tagged along with them last year so if anyone wants to join me there for the ride up I hope to be going again this year.

As PD said, you won't see a better Spitfire flying display anywhere and to be within touching distand of a Lancaster on full chat on the taxiway is an event not to be missed!! I'll be there. :D

Not really, Kiwi. The date for this years Buell event has been booked since July 2006. As a rule, Buell owners don't associate with Hardly Movinson riders/events - we're special and a completely different type of rider.......:D

benson

You beat me to it Chris ~ we are indeed a special bunch ! Not sure what it makes me if I have both a Monster and a Buell - possibly very special indeed:woot: (in a good way you understand!)

The other rally was first advertised on the 15th July 2006, got my 900ss and my XLCR guess I'll have to make a choice can't do both

I'm thinking that the time it'll be necessary to leave in the morning from Londinium is rather frightening...

SO - does anyone want to ride up at stupid o'clock or does anyone finding a b&b or a travel lodge en route???

Good luck with the event Chris- we'll be missing it as will be honeymooning on our bikes in the Scottish Highlands- poor excuse I know!

Guy - shame you can't make it. I'll put the details on the V11 forum in the next few days. Does Helen know you're going on honeymoon?:chuckle:

Benson - I have a list of B&B's etc. local to East Kirkby which I can e-mail you.

I put this on the DuN forum and there's a few plane spotters on there that may be interested in a long ride down for this should the weather be nice, so a list of B&B's would be really handy :)

If anyone fancies a sleepover in sunny Newmarket the night before then ride up from here I can organise something Maybe a BBQ and a few bottles of the grape and grain. As I said earlier the Buelligans ride out from town around 9am-10am and it makes for a great rideout.

Thanks for the list Chris and thanks for the offer Squiffything - will peruse the diary and see how early I can escape from work that night. If it's early I'll come to Newmarket and if it's late I'll just blat up as far as I can as late as I can!!! Thanks both - this will be something to really look forward to!

There will be a limited number of, err, limited edition T-shirts to commemorate this event. Sizes available are medium, large, extra large, and for the fuller figure, extra extra large.

They'll only be sold at the event itself. If you'd like to pre-order one please state which size you'd like and we'll put it aside for you. All profits from the shirts will go to the Papworth Hospital Cystic Fibrosis Unit.

I go for a travel lodge the night before to be honest - early o'clock is not looking appealing but I'll post up what I'm up to closer to the date!!!

We had a ride over to the Aviation Centre yesterday to finalise details for the festival. They've now decided to have two Lancaster taxi-runs in the afternoon so the revised timetable is as follows:

10.30 am Start
12.00 noon to 1.00 pm Photo-call for bikes with the Lancaster
1.30 pm Lancaster taxi-run
3.00 pm Spitfire flying display
4.00 pm Lancaster taxi-run

The Vincent Owners Club have confirmed that the festival is shown in their events listing and they hope to have 20 to 30 machines there.

Just a reminder...

If you're arriving in a group of 3 or more bikes would you please collect your admission money together and hand it to a nominated person before you arrive - this helps us (and you) on the gate. Thank you!

Admission is £5.00 per person, but 'Girls on Buell's get in free.

We had a great time - lots of bike and lots of rain.

Sorry we didn't get to say goodbye we looked for you but couldnt see you and didnt want to get even wetter.

Did they fly the spitfire?

Paranoid Dave
21-07-2007, 08:44 PM
Sadly it was too wet for the spitfire but the rain almost vanished in time for the second taxi run of the lancaster. I got some fab shots and I just watched my video, i think I'll be able to make a pretty good 5 minute film so that'll keep me happy for a while.

CJ will hopefully come in and correct my figures but from what I remember it was about 53 buells and 65 other bikes including about a dozen vincents!

£5 a go on the gate and all for CF i'd say much like arrow mill this year, a good time dampened but not spoiled. :D

Nonnie
22-07-2007, 07:10 AM

Sorry about the weather guys - we did try our best!

Great to see Dave again and I think we had at least two Monsters at the meet. Thanks for turning out on such a crappy day.

We had 54 Buells and 64 other makes attend, which is pretty amazing given the conditions around most of the UK. There were quite a few people in cars which helped to swell the numbers.

The total amount raised on the day for Emma's charity, the Papworth Hospital Cystic Fibrosis Unit, was £568.

We'll be holding the same event again next year - but in drier conditions!!

I think she was pi**ed off Barney wasn't there (as he's being pampered beyond recognition so justifiably absent) but it'll make next years so much better. And If +100 bikes come in the pouring rain and a load more in cars, just think what a dry day next year would be like.
