I just had mine checked by the dealer. It runs fine,it may very well run better with a power commander etc but its one thing at a time for me.

£50 t bore them out £955 termis!

check out ebay, loads of monster pipes there for a lot less than £955

then you can flick your old heavy standard pipes off to recoup most of the money

to get best benefit will need to remap the injection or dynojet the carbs otherwiose you will have a huge flat spot midrange and possibly loss power

also running lean may in extreme cases burn out the valves or melt holes in the pistons

got a 900SS picked up set of ducati performance pipes off the internet for £140 , have had power commander fitted and got another 7hp at teh back wheel according to the dyno, money well spent

Hi,

Ive cored out my standard cans which was free apart from £20 for 26inch of 2inch(id)perf tubing and wadding,

Just had the de-cat pipe made and fitted for £180,
spent £40 on a K&N filter from ebay,
chopped the top off the airbox (free)
got a power commander from the states via ebay.com and even with the import tax it was still less than £190 (£188)

downloaded a map from dynojet.co.uk (arrow race exhaust-open airbox-decat) which is free and should work a dream.....

All in all thats erm.....erm......hang on......£430....which when ive set the power commander up this afternoon using the easy instructions provided should turn my bike into a whole new beasty!

Ill let you know how she go's, but even now she sounds simply awesome, more like a 916 superbike than the tinny sound i started with.

Why dont you try it yourself?
It really isnt that difficult, just a bit tedious.
I even managed to pick up the 'specialist' tools i.e. a cheap mini drill from woolworths for £20.
The only problem for me was getting the time away from the kids.:didge:

Im sure my mates dad would do it for you, he's a genius!

He did mine and he also just did my airbox to perfection and helped fit the power commander and ive just come back from the first test ride and it sounds awesome and runs great!

He'd probably want a little cash/donation for the work but he loves ducatis, cant ride them anymore really bless him (used to have a superlight) but he's by far the most mechanically minded nutty professor type guy ive ever met and a perfectionist.

Lives just off jnc 25 M1 and currently cant work as he's waiting for an operation so pocket money and time tinkering with Ducati's is probably his dream.

Have a look at the pictures of the airbox cut he's done to mine today and the cans....and the decat,,,,,oh god im sooo happy, my bikes looking awesome now... he even stuck the stripe kit on the wheels for me while i made a cuppa :)

seriously its something he loves doing
