Hi all,

What's the widest tyre I can run on the rear of my 600 Monst??

Wide as you like but watch the tyre doesn't catch the chain. A wider tyre will also slow the steering. Do you really want that? Stick with the 160. Theres nowt cool about a wide tyre. My next rear on the R1 will be a slimmer, more nimble 180 instead of the stock 190.

What would be the widest tyre that would not rub on the chain. I've got a 170 on at the moment. I'm not not too concerned about the handling.

Thanks.

160 is perfect 170 means you'll never get to the edge.

Could I run a 180??

If you're just going to deliberately ruin the handling for purely cosmetic reasons, why not just sell me the bike for £100 instead?

Wot Slob said, I'll up the offer to £100 and a mars bar (half eaten).

Some constructive advice - since you've got a 170 on at the moment, look at how much clearance you have between the edge of the tyre and the swinging arm, and the chain. If there's loads of clearance (more than 10mm) you can probably fit a 180 tyre on, you really ought to use a wider rim though (from a 900) and possibly a swinging arm from the same.
I don't know anybody who runs a 180 tyre on a M600 (or even a 170) cos - as Slob said - it trashes the handling.

Okay, if you're going to be like that Zimbo, £101 and a whole Mars bar!

I had a 170 on my 6 and the handling was slow. I put a 160 and it was fine.

Now that's just unfair!

OK, OK, £101.18, a mars bar and some curly wurlys, that's my final offer, take it or leave it!

Thanks guys. I'll probabley stick with the 170 then. As you say handling is the main thing.

P.S. I'm more of a Boost kinda guy........ just for future reference :spin:

some makes are marked 190 when they are actally 180, the same with 180,170,160 etc. you will generally find the german makers exaggerate their width more.
why not go the whole hog and do a 330 ? i know a man that can do the job :D :D
