Ok, calling all Beds and Bucks members!

After a brilliant day riding in warm sunshine, I think it's about time we begun meeting a bit more regularly, so here's the proposal.

Wednesday Nights, from 7:00pm
The White Horse
Mill Road
Husborne Crawley
Beds
MK43 OXE.

It's a good Pub (Marcus and I audited it on the way home from Towcester), with a large car park, outside picnic tables etc etc and is midway between Beds & Bucks giving us all a bit of a ride out. Anyone is welcome from any county, it's just a couple of miles off Junction 13 of the M1 for anyone coming North or South.

First meeting of 2007 - Wednesday 18th April. Come on, it'll be fun!:cool:

I put up the postcode so you can do a search on multimap or streetmap, but it's the pub on the bend of the road that runs past Woburn Safari ParK between Ridgmont and Woburn Sands.

I won't be there for the next two Wednesdays, as Rebel and I are sunning our bones in The Canary Isles. :cool:

Marcus, Doc and Stormie might make it, so post up on this thread if you want to meet up please peeps and we'll see you when we get back!

A quick scan of the BBC Text Weather site, shows that it is going to continue pi55ing down for the remainder of the week and possibly until my Monster has rusted away to dust, so unless there is a miraculous weather change, next Wednesday looks like a non starter. :Furious:

Went with the local Ducati-Owners to the Meldreth bike show yesterday evening. Some amazing machines, including a Vincent, some of those damn silly Hammers, and HDs with tyres so wide, they didn't need stands. Hundreds and hundreds of people, bikes and dougnuts. I met folks I knew, admired bikes and avoided doughnuts.

Any floods in Bedfordshire?

No floods as such, but major accident between Truck and Car at Clophill roundabout has blocked off traffic on A507.....and another two Car pile-up at other exit from Ampthill out onto A507, with road closed, police, Ambulances, Fire Brigade etc etc, so traffic at the moment (6:20pm is absolutely dire). Also the rain is resulting in the Trucks building the Ridgmont bypass bringing all the mud up off the site and spreading it all across the roads, so with the rain, the cars are spraying mud and sh1t up all over the place (is it Glastonbury?), I had to clean the windscreen a dozen times in a few miles of the A507, so there is no way I'm taking my bike down there unless the road is bone dry! :mad:

Considering the above and the fact that I am on a three day training course just of Junction 1 of the M5, but my company have insisted I commute every day, so I am available for "Commercial Catastrophies" at work....I won't be making it!:grump:

Hey Helen, Ahhhh that's why stormie still wanted them, sorry it's going to be a while as I need to order my other ones first and my ham fisted mechanics have just buggered my sump so i need to fix that first. I'd let you have them now anyway, but don't have the original engine bolt (it never came with the bike) so they'd be nothing holding my engine in place.
If you're still interested they should hopefully be ready in a few weeks.

Oh and i saw your bikes in streetfighters magazine - very nice

All sorts of SH!T Problems happened around 3:30pm, to the point where I was telling my Bosses, Boss, exactly how helpful and constructive I didn't consider his comments to be, shortly followed by me leaving the car-park some 20 minutes later at Warp 6! :Furious:

I've just got home, totally pi55ed-off, starving hungry, and "mad as a box of rabid pit-bulls". So I ain't gonna make it after all.

I actually wondered (once i'd cleaned myself up) If you guys had seen the Police car come past the pub - I was half way down the loooong stretch going past the safari Park when I saw him - lord knows how long he was trying to keep up ha ha, I was going to come back and celebrate my good fortune but figured that was just tempting fate!

Not sure whats wrong yet... I actually havent had the confidence to go and inspect it yet. I think its either done the head gasket or a ring.

It got very very hot on way home and wasnt cooling down so I pulled over and turned it off. When I restarted it a puff of smoke came out the front. It still rode OK but was hot. Got as far as Caldecotte Lake roundabouts and it dropped to 1 cylinder, then half a cylinder and wasnt going over about 5mph, I pulled the clutch in and blipped the throttle and it performed an almighty backfire. It just had zero compression so I coasted into a side road before something went pop.

Massive thanks to Christine (Stormies other half) who came out and waited for the recovery truck with me and took me home.

I'll update once I've started spannering.

Well the great news is Pinkys fixed! :thumbsup:

The wires from the front cylinder ignition pick-up had frayed off completely leaving poor Pinky as a 300cc hehehe

My mechanic came over and put some new bullet connectors on and its all sorted and running lovely again!

Yes I am very pleased it was an easy and cheap (31p and a pint of cider) fix. All the problems pointed to head gasket or ring so very pleased with the outcome!

I'll be there Wednesday fresh from Silverstone GP circuit on the Monday... think I'll take some bullet connectors with me... ya know... just incase :D

Ok Guys and Girls, the weather forecast is dry and sunny all this week, so I plan to be at The White Horse PH near Woburn by 7:00pm tomight. As the nights are drawing in now as well, I don't expect we will get many more of these left, so come on over and meet up while you have the chance.

Decided to ride over at the last minute. 6 o'clock weather forecast said dry. Went through a short shower. It's the wettest the bike's been in 2 yrs apart from when I wash it. Obviously someone's not paying attention to my user title.

No other monsters showed up, but a few bikers from Stotfold were there again. Left at 7:40 and had a good ride home.

I've a permenant job project managing a case management system (yawn) for a legal firm in Brackly, but I'm also tending the Bar at the Black Horse some evenings and weekends just outside newport if you fancy a pint on bank holiday monday - I pour a demon pint of Peroni!

I think Stormie has changed his mobile, as I keep getting a message that it's switched off, I don't have Christine's number, but if we can get in touch through Thumper, maybe she can make it as well. I telephoned Dutchman last night and we are meeting up and riding over together.

Nice to see you all in the Bedfordhsire Sunshine again this week!

As mentioned, if the weather is acceptable, I'm thinking of us meeting up and then having a rideout to the Monthly Meeting of the Ducati Owners Club of Great Britain (DOCGB). They meet once a monthy as follows;

1st Tuesday of the month from 8pm at The Royal Oak, Flore, Northamtonshire. Head west from J16 on the M1 and the pub is on the left in Flore.

I'm thinking that Chris B, Dutchman, Rebel, Doc, Sue, Kevlar and myself could meet at the regular pub meeting place for 7:30, then if Marcus can gather a few bodies together from Bucks, Thumper? CombatEx? Stormie (you still about?) etc to meet at the M1 service station after Newport Pagnall, we could all meet up there and ride up to the Royal Oak at Flore together, making as much noise as humanly possible!!

Well, that's my cunning plan anyway. It would be good if you know you can make it (weather permitting) or if you defo know you can't, if you could post up here so that I begin to get an idea for numbers.

If it goes well, I think we should all go to the seaside next and eat fish chips and ice creams!
