View Full Version : S4Rs clip ons / rear sets- worth fitting?

I am considering fitting clip ons to my S4Rs, partly for cosmetic reasons and also because I feel the bike may benefit from getting a bit more weight over the front end (it gets a bit frisky on the gas in 1st and 2nd).

I know from searching other posts that plenty of Monster owners have fitted clip ons, but has anyone done this to an S4Rs in particular? If so, which aftermarket firm did you use, and how have they affected the handling of the bike, if at all?

I also find the pegs a little too far forward and small- can anyone recommend a quality pair of rear sets that will feel secure while I am cornering, and which don't cost the earth?

Many thanks in anticipation

Guy

I take it from the deafening silence that nobody has yet fitted clip ons to an S4Rs! :look:

Can't help with the clip-on's, I'm still running with the original bars.

Rear Sets, three that I know of.

Cycle Cat http://www.cyclecat.com/DRS53-1.htm
Rizoma http://www.desmorados.com/shop/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=1202

All three are expensive, all look good. Cyclecat are easy to get a hold of from Stu at Spareshack, can't say about the other two, except that Desmoworld in Germany are very reliable.

You might get a better response if you widen the request to include other SR models.
Generally clip ons will need a bit of thought to install, its not just a straight bolt on job, I've had to get new brake lines and re-route some stuff, and some clip on models have clearance issues with other parts of the bike.
If you do a general search for clip ons most of these things have already been done.

Have a chat with Stuart at Spareshack, he's good with Duke parts

Thanks for the responses guys. I've seen plenty advertised for the SR models but none so far for the S4Rs.

I'll drop Stuart a line.

Personally I rate the bikes standard magura bar setup. As for rear sets - Rizoma are lovely. I was about to do a deal on a load of sets but this wont be for at least 2 months now..

I fitted rear sets to my 748 monster but kept the standard-ish bars. (Renthalls) You may find clip-ons a bit much on the wrists if you go any distance. The Renthalls are available in variety of heights. Stuart at Spareshack has seen my bike and has most bits in stock.

DP reastets crippled me but I'm over 6' so I should know better. Fitted clip-ons but they held the throttle open when turning the bars left. Make sure you consider the throttle cable run!
