HI All

I have bought a 2002 m600 last year, the bike is great but I have a problem with it. Sometimes when you press the start button nothing happens (not even a click) and it takes about 20 presses until it starts? The battery is fine and all the other electrics seem to work fine.

If you have any advise on this please help me.

Thanks

Jonno

starter relay. not sure where it is on the 620.
(the 2002 model is a 620, right ?)

I agree, the starter relay is the most likely culprit.

thanks for your advise, it is the M600 one of the last ones, just before the 620 came out.

I have an M600 too on an "N".
I've had the same grief starting it,and I've found that if I turn the bars it will go.
Somewhere on here is a thread that says some bikes can suffer the wires breaking up from the switch to the starter.
I will investigate further.........

No idea if the later bikes have the same problem, but at least it proves I'm reading this stuff!

This is a break or nearly broken wire in the loom around the headstock I reckon. Ducati have the knack to try and keep tidy on a naked bike but maybe under too much tension. Gary T has done a piece about this and may be able to give advice but it may need a bit of keyhole surgery in the loom where it may be rubbing

I just had a squint at mine, and where the wire goes over the headstock and into the plug behind the forks,it is very tightly bent over.
I've unplugged it and moved it to another position and it's a bit straighter, started no probs.
I'll leave it for a bit and I'll know if it is that bit by the plug.............
