I saw on here somewhere something about using surgical spirit in lieu of FST.:idea:
Seeing as my little beastie has been running like a hound of late,I glugged 200ml of said medical lotion into the tankful of Tescos finest waterbased,and went for a blast!

Petrol nearly all gone,and even riding out in the cold damp night air,(so poetic I know,)it's going bloody great now!
I won't just rely on Boots medicine to keep the bike running,but it's put the smile back on me dial,which stops me from looking quite so deformed,Esmerelda!:freak:

Must remember to pop a bottle of spirit in the basket next time I get my gross of "balloons"in case the bike shop is shut!;)

Yeah - Spacemonkey suggested it last year. Cheapskate that I am, I ran my old 600 on it in last winter with no ill-effects when I ran out of Pro FST. My next door neighbour is a tattooist so he buys it by the gallon - bonus.

It certainly semed to keep the dreaded carb freezing at bay.

Another benefit is u can get really pissed on it, wonder if it cleans out carb gum and what would it do to a Fuel injected bike.

is the cheapest supplier I have found. 25 litres for £29+vat compared to pro FST at £10+ for a litre..

I've used Isopropyl Alcohol as a carb cleaner, and its dissolves the gum really well, especially if mixed 50/50 with ammonia

wouldn't drink it though -

Used to run my rd350 on denatured ethanol-B. Wife's works manager for a perfume house so they keep some arround. Ran fab at 4-5%. Barked like a Yorkshire terrier.
