Mine is with Ducati Insurance (equity) They have very kindly given me 1 years NCB, I had max last year. The renewal also includes Cor to ride it. Plus am allowed to ride other bikes 3rd party.

Cors has gone with them for her 02 620sie with me on it, fully comp full NCB. £120 all in... age 34 (slap)

Hi mate,

I pay £330 for the 916 and the Monster with mods and pipes etc, thats with both garaged and secured to ground anchor. All the bits like the ground anchor made quite a bit of difference.

I thought this was bang on as im 30, have 3 years NCB and have only been ridding for 3 years!!!

I got this through Laxton's at www.dwlaxton.co.uk

Cheers,

Shandy

I didn't bother ringing round this year for other quotes.. I guessed last year that 600 would be about what my premium would rise to so was happy to pay £30 less.. The other worry I had was taking a chance of getting refused as any quote for me would have to be referred to underwriters with 2 claims in last year...... I have never paid this much for bike insurance in 20 years.. And used to say if over 500 pound I would give up.......

I got one for £117 but I've got to get through the dreaded first and it was for my ancient 600. I was well impressed, it's cheaper than the 125 by £50! I don't get the logic though, bigger more powerful bike and it's cheaper. Praps they don't think monsters are desirable enough to nick, won't be on the road often enough to crash! Little do they know.

125's are highly prized by kids... ie have the highest theft record and stolen by kids to have a laugh torch and chuck in a canal......

For my '94 monster 600 and a 2000 GS500 on the same policy fully comp I paid around the 400 mark last July. Thats with 5 years NCB but not too bad really, I'm only 22!

My '93 900 Monster and '99 Bandit 6 cost me the grand sum of £150 TPFT with Hastings Direct. I got a quote for Ducati Insurance, just for the Monster was £90ish!! I nearly fainted on the keyboard!! Thats with me being a young kid at 31 and having 10 years NCB, living in sunny Surrey and the bikes living in my garage.

Bennetts quoted around £150 just for the Monster (but they never get my address right!!), and I just gave up with Carole Nash when they said "We can't match the cheapest quote" They were talking nearly £400 for just the 900 Monster

I noticed the difference between my Aprilia RS125 and the Bandit 6. I was paying £72 TPFT for the Bandit, then I bought the little stink wheel. £175 for the Aprilia! Damn tea leaves!!

Still, at least I blew up the bike and dumped it on ebay :chuckle:

Just had the renewals for both 900 solo and Trike. £151 for solo with H&R insurance and £245 for trike with Bikesure (5000 p.a. mile limit) - both fully comp & agreed value of £7500 on the trike.

But then I am an old git with full (protected) NCB, and both are garaged and alarmed/locked with approved kit. I tend to spread mine over installments nowadays. My van also need tax & insurance in March, and it's a shed load of cash to find in one month

I guess being 45 helps and of course us lasses don't tend to hooley allegedly!;) Or maybe it's cos we smile sweetly if we get tugged and get away with it so that's why we get cheaper insurance anyway. Little do they know I'm having a midlife crisis and drive like a nutter:D

I know this is an older thread, but just thought I'd comment because I've spent the last couple of days trying to get a quote for me if I were to buy a new S4R Testastretta.

Firstly, loads of companies just wouldn't quote me. "What London and no garage ?" Or quotes that were just sky high, and I mean multiple thousands.

So what a relief to get a sensible (relatively) quote from BIKE TEAM - 01707 659956.
And even though the underlying insurer was the same, Eagle Red Star, Bike Team managed to get me the best quote by far.

After 20 years out of bikes, I bought my 695 at Easter, kept it on the drive with a disc-lock and insured it (no ncb) for £240 Fully Comp with Equity Red Star through Motorcycle Direct.
When I wrote it off, I expected to be penalised, so I searched around, but ended up back with them for £280.
Mind you, they are taking a bloody long time to reimburse me for the replacement Monster that I just had to get!

I can only assume that because you had a license for over twenty years, unlike me at 8 months, and you like in Haverhill not central London, things are cheaper !

Guess so: there have to be some compensations for being old...

JP Be careful if you are changing insurance company when you get a new bike. I have a feeling (but am not 100% sure) that Equity Red Star do not insure for after market cans - ok when you get the bike, Not OK when you decide to put cans on it and have to change insurers.

As Johnny Depp says, "That's interesting." It would certainly make a difference to decisions about both insurance & cans!

As I've found with a lot of companies, even on my 695, they'll only cover the COST of the original cans so if you've got different ones you've paid more for you won't get your full money back, but you will get the replacement value of the original ones. And given we're talking about Ducati, the cost of original cans is high anyway so I'm not worried.
But you do have to make sure they let you have different ones fitted as long as they're road legal.
