Just as well it's tonight from 10.45 then, lasts over an hour.
Looks as though it will be cloudy in the west though
Cheers

:( I have a 10" diam 1m long scope all tucked away round where I use to lodge and won't be able to get to it. Now is the time where i wish i had space to house it so I could have a good ol gawp skyways

Melnie Mouse

that sounds good, i know what you mean though, i find it hard to use mine which is only 4.5" as where i keep it in the bay window (only just fits) it takes up a lot of room and the ecliptic belt is not anywhere near that window!

I have to take it outside EVERY TIME.. puts you off for a start then it's usually cloudy by time i try and find what i want to look at!

I'll find out tomorrow if my mum got any good photos.

I don't know what size her telescope is (don't know about these things), but it's almost as wide as it is long, and she's got GPS tracking on it! Hopefully she's got her camera attached to it.

All that modern technology, and she still can't use a mobile phone.

Anyway, the eclipse is cool. I popped out before it started, and the moon was incredibly bright, so now it's really dark here. Great for stargazing! Really glad we don't have much light pollution here.

even from my east London lit up skies it was mightily impressive and the red/orange glow was a treat to behold (see I've gone all poetic because of it!!!)

We were lucky in our part of Norfolk we have no light pollution. It was stunning. Wish I'd been able to photograph it.

I ended up on Portsdown Hill watching it, cup of coffee off Micks Monster Burgers, very impressive (the eclipse, not the coffee!) and looking out over the City too :)

ha ha I thought yes we have the same bike size, but it's not cos i'm short, i'm actually 5'6! it's what i was given to ride is to why i've got this one. I'd like the monster 1000DS that would be nice :) But this is one of the best little engine's I've even ridden, and what fun!

SCOTTY - great photo's! It was great to see though wasn't it?
Think there is a small partial in September.. but i'll have to check, i know that's the last full eclipse for a long time... Apparently if our sun was at solar maximum it would have made a real redder moon than we had.. we've got another 4 years til it's that...

squiffything

5'6 is short Mel I know coz it's all I am and I'm shorter than anyone I know.

Great pic Scotty

How do you cut your eye ball??? That sounds like it must have hurt!! Anyway - CAptain Jack is cute so can't be all bad!!!

The eclipse was a real treat - lay in the bath looking at it out through the window, glass of wine in hand feeling very small and insignificant in the vastness of everything else :dizzy:
