I have just noticed that the screws that hold the caliper to the mount no longer tighten. Does anyone have a spare caliper mount they no longer need for a 2001 M600.
If not the number of a breakers where I might be able to get one?

The picture shows the gap between the caliper and the mount.
Thanks.

I might have one, or at least I have one for a 620, you can check if it's the same on Sunday if you don't find one in the meantime.

Thanks Rob.
I will take you up on that if I cannot find one.

The 620 one will have a bigger spindle hole.

But I do have one from an SS that will fit the smaller spindle......£15 inc p&p to you?

Let me know if you still need it.

I think a 2001 600 will share its chassis with the 620 rather than an older 600.

also, I may have a helicoil kit that fits, so we may be able repair your existing one.

Whike we're at it, the parts catalog shows the 2000 and 2001 M600s with an underslung caliper, albeit different part numbers while the 620 caliper is above the axle, like your pic above (and the SS ones).... The 620 one will also have a mounting for the speedo sensor......

Very true!

If you do have a helicoil kit Rob I might be able to use it for that semi-stripped thread on Monica's rear caliper mount . . .

Oooh, I think I might have to put my caliper brackets on ebay, there seems to be a lot of thread stripping going on!:D

Bike-enders only deal in water cooled bikes now.

First refusal paynep. I will take it off of you. I can take a couple of photos from other angles for comparison to make sure we have the same parts.
I have got some more breakers to try if I get time tomorrow. Today has been hectic. Bloody press office.

looks like the same bracket as i had on 'water cooled' S4 which i have replaced with a 620 bracket including empty hole for speedo sensor

Fix it with a Helicoil
Helicoils are awesome... Basically you tap a larger diameter thread into the stripped hole, then thread a steel insert into the newly cut thread.

Put a helicoil in and you'll never have a stripped thread again.
I've used them for years... even on crankcases to hold the cylinder studs, so they are very strong and reliable... (and much cheaper than buying another adapter plate that will do the same thing in a few years!)

Check this link out... Everything you need to fix it is here except an electric / cordless drill to remove the stripped thread completely... (I assume the thread is 8 x 1.25mm)

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Helicoil-M8-x-1-25-Thread-Repair-Kit_W0QQitemZ280077280947QQihZ018QQcategoryZ30917Q QssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Once you have the kit, the inserts are dirt cheap, and you can fix stripped threads till your heart's content.

The one I have is part number 825.1.005.1A, takes a 17mm spindle and is 30mm across the spindle hole, and has good threads!

Anyway, let me know if you don't go the helicoil route.

Turns out I didn't have an M8x1.25 helicoil, so I picked up a set at lunchtime,
Gadget... see you Sunday, Zimbo... send me the bracket.
