Just noticed this sooty deposit where the cans meet the link pipes on my 750. It looks like the seal isn't perfect. Maybe the can's taken a bump at some point:

Should I worry (do something), bearing in mind the MOT is coming up?

This is normal- when the pipes heat up they become sealed.

No need to worry.

Agreed, ignore it, it's fine! The can link pipe just slips into the header collar, it's a push fit and they are slightly loose, perfectly normal.

Thanks folks. There goes my excuse for fitting something a little more fruity though.

In that case it's obviously a serious problem, that only a set of 105Db cans will fix.

Oh dear, that's really serious, it's caused by excessive back pressure from the cans and the cheapest way to fix it is to fit cans with less back pressue i.e. free flowing race cans.

Is that better? ;)

It could be even worse that that , i think the problem could be the header side, id recomend set of spagetti headers

Rats. I was dreading that.

All good advice. I'll print this out and show it to my "financial advisor" to allow access to some of my own cash...
